Could have lived without associating THAT with Marjorie Taylor-Greene.
But yeah I snickered when that original post was made.

You may not know this, but devoted supporters of the Arsenal football team, commonly known as the Gunners, call themselves “gooners”. Their keen rivals Spurs would love the modern American meaning.
You can look up that last one in your Funk and Wagnall’s.
This is a good first step.
Another good step would be to switch parties.
What other party would have her?
Me, too. So if the gerund of “goon” now means something entirely otherwise, will “goon” itself become unusable?
And do we still have “mook”? Or has that been repurposed, too?
As for MTG–it doesn’t matter if Democrats don’t want her; she would never seek to become a Democrat. Her idea is to take over MAGA from Donny-boy. (I’d say she has as much chance of accomplishing that as of getting the first dance in Donny’s new ballroom.)
But if she switched to (D),) that would be the death knell for her career. She’d lose all her previous supporters, and why would the Democrats nominate her to run for any political office when they have many less-odious candidates to choose from?
From what I’ve been reading on various socials, “MAGA” is behind abandoned by some (such as MTG) for a new “America First,” which as I understand it is a Nick Fuentes branch-off. She’s not leaving the Republican party, she’s just moving over to America First.
Charming. I guess MAGA wasn’t anti-Semitic enough…
If the Republican party splinters into a bunch of small fringe groups, all of which hate each other and won’t cooperate and none of which are powerful enough to get anything done by themselves…I am OK with that.
(I couldn’t help getting Judean People’s Front vibes as I was typing that. If only the AF and MAGA crowds were as incompetently harmless.)
Like the Democrats?
It’s important to be open to party changers.
Looking at Wikipedia, since 2020, American politicians are about four times more likely to switch R to D than D to R. That’s a D problem. But you are correct. MTG is from such an overwhelmingly GOP district that she couldn’t keep her job after a party change, sincere or otherwise.
It’s not at all important for Democrats to ever be open to supporting MTG.
To paraphrase dril, you do not under any circumstances “gotta hand it to her”.
The thread was active so I clicked and skimmed recent posts.
Have you people forgotten the OP?
The exact psychiatric diagnosis of MTG may have changed, but I don’t think she’s eligible for discharge from hospital.
It’s a long thread, but I’m only aware of a single poster who even considered letting MTG into the Democratic Party. Most of us, like myself, are more than happy to see her vote in a manner consistent with our principles (even if it’s rare), but it would take a herculean effort on her part, over many years, for me to be willing to even consider thinking about having her join us. As they say, if there is a Nazi at the table and the Democratic Party is sitting at the table talking to them, you have a table full of Nazis.
I must say rooting for MTG in a fight with DJT was not on my 2025 bingo card.
I’m rooting for them both to go down in flames.
I’d settle for injuries.
