Connect DVD to computer speakers

Story: short version - I have a DVD player I want to connect to an older TV. The older TV has a poor mono speaker. Could I connect the DVD video to the TV, and the audio to some small desktop PC speakers?

I think yes. However, left to my own devices, it would probably take me a couple of weeks tinkering around, which I would actually enjoy, but I’m on a schedule here people!

There seems to be no pre made adapter to connect the AV cable (the red, white, yellow cord) to the speaker input ( a 3/32" jack, I think).

Any advice? BTW, I am not scared to rip things apart, twist wires together, maybe even do a little soldering, as long as there is a reasonable chance of success.

What you would need is the oppisite of this. I’ve got the same thing, except I found it for alot cheaper than that. Anyway I suppose you could get something like that, chop off the end and splice it to a female connecter. As far as I know, that should work.

You should be able to put together what you need with parts from Radio Shack. If possible, bring the DVD player and speakers to the store and the manager should be able to help you out. Splicing should be unnecessary.

As long as everything’s standard, xgxlx’s cable (the $6 version) plus one of these should do the trick.

Thanks for the advice. Looks like it’s Radio Shack at lunch today.
