Though I guess, if you simply have a strong political stance, that will have an effect on your perception of what’s funny, and on what’s funny to you. If you’re a comedian and you’re thinking “this is a funny joke, but I can’t tell it because it conflicts with my political beliefs,” you’re going to bomb; if your only criterion is “this is a funny joke” it’ll work (at least, it’s more likely to work) even if what you find funny is delimited by what aligns with your politics.
