I watched Constantine yesterday and was surprised to find that, among other alterations to the character, Chas Chandler’s name had been changed to Kramer. However, the IMDb quote page lists him as Chas Chandler and quotes him as calling himself Chandler. I am completely sure that he said “Kramer” in the movie, and the subtitles said “Kramer” too.
What’s going on? Was the character name changed, and if so, why? And why does IMDb list him as “Chandler”? If it wasn’t changed, exactly what delusional mental illness have I developed recently?
He was definitely “Chas Kramer” in the movie, but remember, he was also a teenager who wanted to be John’s apprentice. If it makes you feel any better, that’s a completely different character than the Chas Chandler in the comic. And since John Constantine in the movie was a dark-haired Californian, he was also a completely different character than the JC in the comics.
Yeah, as I said the character had been changed in many other ways too. But why is he listed as Chandler on the IMDb, then? Any idea of why the name was changed?
Because ANYONE can contribute to IMDB… you, me, or 12-year-old kids who don’t know anything about anything. I don’t take IMDB seriously as a flawless information source, because it isn’t “official” in any way–just like Wikipedia. It is full of inaccurate information, and you just have to be able to filter the signal out of the noise. If you don’t believe me, just check out the IMDB message boards.
