I was surprised and quite intriqued to see that our new friend managed to get banned with a post count as low as 4! 4 posts?
The post that I read seemed o.k. (unless Mariah Carey references are now against the rules- an addendum to which I would not object) so I clicked on “View All Posts By User” to see how this person got into so much trouble so quickly.
But, although the post count is listed as 4, the only post that came up in the search was the one post that I had already seen. I also tried searching the username in the “key words” field in case there was an instance of a Mod saying, “constantlydrunk, the new rules explicitly forbid Mariah Carey references! Consider yourself banned!” but I found nothing.
When we find someone with more than one screen name, we tend to remove all evidence of their repeated presence on the board; we do not reward bad behavior. However, when the system is wonky (as has been the case recently), we tend to let things stay simply because we don’t want to tie up scarce system resources or make a bad situation worse. A lot of the housekkeeping things we do have the potential to stop the board dead in its tracks at least temporarily.
We always weigh the value of what we do from an enforcement standpoint with how much it might inconvenience you, our user, so sometimes that means we let some things go – at least for the present.
Aww, that’s so sweet. So I’m guessing we can assume that most of the banned users with low post counts are socks or the like? Because I see them every so often and it does seem strange when there’s someone banned after like two posts.
