From what I’ve seen, being pro-pedophilia is pretty much the only opinion you can honestly hold and politely express on the SDMB and get banned for it. Just holding vile opinions isn’t usually enough. “Don’t be a jerk” has always been about your posting behaviour not the jerkishness of the opinions you express. Personally I think it’s one of the good things about these boards. I’d rather know what people like **Construct **think than not know because they get shut down before they can speak.
Most people like Construct have an alternate value system, and it’s always hard to argue on an objective basis that their value system is not as good as mine. But it is the hypocrisy that always shows them up and catches them out: in the end their position isn’t based on any values, other than self-centredness.
Even that was only after he was hijacking threads that had nothing to do with the subject in order to talk about it–something he was allowed to do for quite a little while before the mods put their foot down.
The mods here have made it clear that they practice the “geek fallacy” form of tolerance, where you have to tolerate the intolerant. Even Reddit is learning this doesn’t work.
Xenophobia dates back a lot further than this nation; that still doesn’t make it conservative.

In some ways, I admire someone who is able to neutrally enforce rules even for those he disagrees with. Tomndebb’s actions are very respectable from a non-ideological viewpoint.

Marxists have empirically shown that when they gain power, they have a tendency to kill their enemies. This has been proven in in the Soviet Union, in China, and in Cambodia. As someone who is certainly not a friend of Marxism, I have a vested interest in ensuring that Marxists don’t succeed. And I’d be better off it they were shot, because they’d do exactly the same to me.
I’d be perfectly fine emigrating to an ethnostate. But since people tend to self-segregate, it isn’t very relevant who exactly moves; people of all kinds will gradually seek to be with those similar to them over time. It’s why gun nuts move to Texas and cyclists move to Seattle and Boston. The same principle holds true for race.
