I just started this book, The Tale of the Rose; the Love Story behind the Little Prince, by Consuelo de Saint-Exupery. She was the wife of Antoine de Saint_Exupery, the dashing French aviator who wrote the well-known “Little Prince”.
This manuscript about their marriage wasn’t discovered until the 1990s, in a trunk in an attic. This after several biographies had been researched and written about Antoine. In most of the stories about him, she had basically been airbrushed out. And here comes this book by her full of passion and tumultuous emotions that goes on for decades.
My question is whether this book is for real? Did someone else write it later? I want to think it’s the real thing, but why did it take so long to be discovered?
Antoine disappeared after taking off from Corsica, I think, in his plane. Nothing was ever found until like in the 1980s, when a fisherman happens to pull up a bracelet from the sea with the names Antoine and Consuelo engraved on it. Is this for real? Meanwhile, no plane or other artifacts have been discovered. I want to believe this stuff, but what do the rest of you know about all this?
