Consumer Statute of Limitations in Mississippi

In 2007 I ordered a hat from Adventurebilt Hats in Mississippi. I knew there would be about a six-month wait. Well, six months turned into a year. A year turned into two years. And so on. Apparently Steve Delk’s mother was ill, or something like that. Then Delk was fighting cancer. Then the order book was lost. In 2010 I received this:

I have an email reminding him about my order, dated 2012. No reply. I tried calling him in 2013. No reply. Every time I tried to contact this crook, I sent my receipt. Delk is still making hats, but according to a 2013 post elsewhere, he has no interest in filling backorders.

I presume the Statute of Limitations ran out long ago. I can talk to our Collections department to see if there’s anything they can do. Other than that, is there anything I can do?

Well, you could add your story to those catalogued at scamexposure, usacomplaints, and ripoffreport.

Do you know he’s still making hats? It kinda looks like he discovered that just taking people’s money, and not making the hats, was a better gig.

Yes, and people are very happy with them from what I’ve read. But his hats were $250 when I ordered mine, and they’re $650 now. I read a post saying he won’t even fulfil the order if the customer pays the difference.

And he hasn’t refunded your money, either?

He hasn’t refunded anybody’s money.
