Contact: Book vs. Movie

The “Most Misunderstood” thread got me to thinking- do you folks think that the movie version of Contact contained a number of… non-Saganic elements?

I think the Ellie Arroway displayed a Saganesque attitude. That is, a rigorous adherence to the skepticism of science. IIRC, Sagan didn’t “believe in” interstellar travel. Yet he wrote the book about that very thing. It’s been a while since I read the book, but I don’t remember the romance between Arroway and the preacher. Also, the book sent a team of travellers to the… nexus? and they each got a different experience out of it.

What “non-Seganic” elements do you mean?
