Contact lens wearers

I wear keep my glasses by my bedside, and I wear them when I first wake up and when I read at night. Now and then I’ll wear them through a sick day at home, but I basically never ever wear them out. I can’t stand trying to walk around with glasses on.

I haven’t had a pair of glasses in over 15 years.
Guess I take to contact lenses very well.

Had them as backup because I was stuffed if I didnt have some vision support, and occasionally eyes needed a rest.

But when wearing them after a large break, for about an hour it would look like I was looking downhill when I was looking straight ahead, wierdest feeling.

Thanks to eye surgery, only need driving glasses now.

I voted Yes assuming it meant “at all.” But it should have been No, as I leave the regular prescription pair at home when I leave. I do take my reading glasses with me, because I still need those for close reading.

And I use daily contacts that I take out at night, so while asleep I do have my regular pair somewhere close by. Just started wearing contacts in December and am still feeling my way around with them. I really like them so far though.

I have them, but only as a backup, as I really can’t see well with glasses at all. Was never able to pass the driving eye test with glasses, and while I will, on occasion, drive a few blocks in the daytime while wearing glasses, if I have to (say, I have conjunctivitis and need to go to the eye doctor), it’s really not a good idea.

But they’re better than nothing.

I voted other because I do have my last pair of glass; but the style is from 2007 and I never wear them.

Other: I wore contact lenses for the better part of 32 years, and always had glasses on the side. There were times when for one reason or another I stopped wearing contact lenses for a while and wore glasses instead. I kept acquiring new glasses over the years to keep up with my prescription.

Finally I switched to glasses permanently when I transitioned in 2007, and never wore contact lenses again. So for a while after I switched to glasses I kept my supply of contact lenses around, which forms the reverse of your OP.

I’m using contacts roughly half of the time, so I have prescription glasses which I use when I’m not wearing contacts. However, those lie contentedly on the bathroom shelf when I’m wearing my contacts. OTOH, since I’ve been getting a bit presbyopic recently, I have a pair of prescription glasses fitted for use with the contacts when reading or sitting at the computer. I bring those to work on those days I’m wearing contacts, but I don’t carry them for shopping, sports or other leisure activities.

Since I’m only moderately myopic, I don’t need to keep my glasses on my nightstand. I’ve got enough eyesight to find my way to the bathroom at night and even aim successfully at the bowl. And before the presbyopia, I never carried prescription glasses with me when I was wearing contacts, except in my luggage when traveling or in the car while driving long distances. It has happened on occasions that my contacts act up and I’ve had to remove them. Driving without contacts or glasses is something I just don’t do. And I’m also not allowed to.

I have a current pair of prescription glasses, but I leave them at home - the only reasons I carry them with me is if I have an eye appointment, or there’s been something going on like allergy issues and I’ve not been able to wear my contacts for a couple of days - then, the first day or so back, I’ll carry my glasses with me in case I need to switch out. Otherwise, they stay at home.
