Contact with the Great Beyond--Psychics like Praagh

Is there a non-partisan transcription of the show?

I don’t, he measured nothing, he was a fake.

Now we get to the heart of the matter, lekatt.
Besides the fact the he didn’t tell you what you wanted to hear, how did you determine that he was fake?

We’re not. Quite the opposite. We want your source, not your word, for the claim that Bess Houdini believed that she’d received a message from her deceased husband.

Actually, I thought Scalia was holding out for phlogiston.

andlekatt - I’ve been restrained. If you could avoid making assumptions about my age, and experience, when you dodge wahat is a very simple question, I’d be ever so appreciative.

Nobody bought Zammit’s nonsense back on page 4 and we’re not buying it now.

Hey all, I just wanted you to know that penn and teller are doing a show about this exact topic tonight: Here’s a link to the OP I started:

Here’s the CNN transcript of the Larry King show previously mentioned.

Randi’s interpretation of the event here.

hmmm

So the guy that claimed Praagh and Edwards are frauds is himself a fake? Isn’t that a double negative? Maybe this is the proof we have all been looking for!

Lekatt claimed he was a fake, I don’t believe he gave a reason. Czar didn’t though.

At least that’s if I’m reading this all properly…

It’s amazing how people can twist things to suit their own purpose, isn’t it? Zammit (Dammit!) called the psychic’s readings 100% accurate and said she trashed Randi. A reading of the transcript, on the other hand, suggests the opposite. Her readings weren’t 100% by any means; the comment about a father planting 2 rosebushes instead of one was the only point where she could be considered accurate, and even that one is questionable since they were planted in two different places, which means at two different times, and we don’t really know how close in time they were.

Yet, to people like Zammit (Dammit!) and lekatt, that’s solid proof.

You can’t teach a fish to play piano and you can’t convince True Believers that they’re wrong.

Thank you very much for providing the transcript.

I feel totally vindicated by it. It was an excellent example of psychics proving they do what they do. Randi was as expected “out” of it. But this and other examples in the future will soon put to rest the skeptical voice.

I am not wanting to prove psychics exist, I already know they exist. It seems to be you that needs the proof.

Thanks Papermache Prince, this sure changes the argumenter’s prospective on what happened (as I thought it would).

My fave part:

Enough said there. It actually is a mirror of the conversation here.

You do realize that you’re logically contradicting yourself here:

So you’re saying that there will be more proof in the future, but you don’t need it but apparently it’s needed to show that psychics do exists but we’re jerks for asking for it but… ARGHHHHHHHHHHH.

stpauler- I had a psychic vision that lekatt’s answer would upset you so… Where’s my million bucks from Randi?

Cold reader! mutter mutter mutter…

Testimonials are first-hand, eye-witness accounts of an events and are permissible in a court of law. Of course, skeptics couldn’t accept such evidence as the courts do. If they did they would be out of business.

ok, lekatt, we’re back to the issue of burden of proof! ANd what the heck does any of this have to do with law? If you want to debate law, bring it on.

Testimonials have no place in the scientific analysis of a phenomenon. Furthermore, it seems to me that the psychics are the ones in business, exploiting poor deluded people and defrauding them of their money. If you look at it, “psychics” outnumber people like Randi a thousandfold to one. (in that he’s one of the only people who makes money debunking these frauds.)

Plus, if you can point to me any court case where a judge accepted testimony about psychic abilities as reliable, I’ll eat my bar card.

In all the posts in this thread, only one question was asked about how psychics were able to do this. When I answered, the answer was bashed apart as if the skeptics already knew everything. The problem with skeptics and why most of them will remain skeptics is they refuse to learn anything about psychics, because they think they “know it all” already. Sorry, but you don’t.

Even Randi admits Psychic ability exists, or else he wouldn’t be testing. He said so himself. While on this thread insults of all kinds are being hurled at psychics with claims of all psychics are phoney, etc. You people don’t want to know, so you don’t ask and you don’t learn and you don’t listen. It is really strange to me, I have always wanted to know the truth about everything and was will to read, study, whatever to find it.
