Every time I tried to watch one of these shows, even the original Japanese ones, I was amazed that no one had snapped their neck or had a serious concussion or something. The “stunts” are almost completely ill-conceived for safety.
They do, we just don’t hear about them. I have a traumatic brain injury and met, in a brain injury support group, a person in his/her mid 30s who sustained a life-altering traumatic brain injury during a taping of the national finals of one of these reality competitions. The show broadcast them sustaining the injury and then going on to finish the course. The show must go on.
