I’m currently watching the first 10 episode season and quite enjoying it. Anyone looking forward to the new season?
Wow, already? They just finished season 1 a few weeks ago.
Sorry, I got the date wrong - according to wikipedia it’s April 21st. But the program guide on Zap2it.com only lists reruns starting April 23rd.
Not sure what’s up with that.
Syfy says the premier is June 7th - guess I should have checked there to begin with - d’oh. :smack: :smack: :smack:
Thanks to the mods for fixing the title - and damn, that was fast.
It’s a Canadian import (as opposed to an American show filmed in Canada); season 1 aired on Showcase in Canada a year ago. I wonder why SyFy waiting until June to air season 2 when they could’ve just aired season one immediatly beforehand and treated them as a single, 23 episode, season.
Thanks for the two month heads-up!
I thought season 1 got better as it progressed, so I’ll tune in for Season 2.
Even as a Canadian, I find it a bit jarring when shows shot up here (Continuum, The Listener, Flashpoint, ReGenesis) are actually set in Canada.
Showcase just aired a swack of re-runs up to the last season finale. I kind of want to get back into the show now.
Yeah, I realize, it just seemed like if they are gonna show them seperately April twenty anything seemed awful soon. June whatever seems better.
And I think they actually did show two seasons of Lost Girl as one continuous season last year. At least it seemed to be on forever without any real gaps (other than the occasional week off nonsense).
Just a bump to remind anyone who is interested.
Thanks, I was thumbing through my (on screen) TV guide to see what’s on tonight. I happened to see Continuum on there. Then I started to get pissy because when I was reading the description, it didn’t indicate it was the season opener. Which led me to believe I missed a few episodes.
Dude, if you want someone to take over your terrorist organization after you blow yourself up, maybe leave behind a message to that effect instead of just hoping she can successfully whack the next guy in line (who also happens to be her boyfriend) and everyone else will just accept her.
When last season concluded, I was on the fence about whether or not I wanted to bother following the show when it got going again. It always seemed to be in the “I’ll get around to it” category in my DVR list. But the second-season opener really refreshed my enthusiasm. The further splintering of Liber8 is intriguing, as is the exploration of other time travelers who might be skulking about. I think it has earned a place in my “I’ll get around to it sooner” category.
:bump:
So, season 2 of Continuum just finished airing in the U.S. Boy, I am really glad I kept watching! I thought this season was much improved over season 1. All the different factions with their varying motivations–and conflicts/splintering within those factions–make the show complex enough to keep me interested. Alec is developing into a more complicated character now that he’s growing up a little and because he knows more about everything that is going on. Kiera being sometimes at odds with her allies (Alec and Carlos) raises the tension for her situation. More background and character development for the Liber8 leaders (Travis, Sonya, Garza) has also added depth to the story.
There are some flaws. The Theseus story has been, IMO, poorly handled. I just don’t buy that he’s inspired such devotion among his followers. Also, the whole thing with the police captain leaving and then coming back with a total change of personality was odd, though it looks like the writers have plans for that going forward (and the Theseus story, too).
The show does a good job with both the special effects and the action scenes. The hand-to-hand combat is usually pretty well choreographed and shot where you can actually tell what’s going on. The gunfights may not be totally realistic, but at least we do often see real consequences–people get injured or even killed.
Not a perfect show by any means, but I enjoy it and unlike some TV sci-fi (Defiance), I don’t feel dumber for having watched it. I’m looking forward to season 3 some time next year.
Especially this early in the timeline; though that’s pretty clearly Kagame’s doing. I do think it’s interesting that Theseus is so infamous that he’ features in children’s nursery rhymes, but his real identity isn’t common knowledge. I’m guessing Chairman Sadler though suppressed that to cover up the family thing. As disturbing as the factory city scenes were Keira’s cheery rose-tinted description of them was even more unsettling. Something extremely nasty must happen in the very near future for Canada to be less than 20 yrs away from slave labour camps, and then the whole thing get’s whitewashed for the historical record by the time Keira’s born.
And now where know how the CPS was founded, but that doesn’t make any sense either. Inspector Dillon apparently has the authority to unilaterally privatize the VPD? :dubious: I’m not even sure privatize is the right word since it looks like Picon is simply funding the police (as opposed to the government paying Picon to run a police service). And nobody from the provincial or federal government is chiming in?
