Contrasts of greatness: Bonds vs. Griffey

1992

Bonds was known as the biggest jerk in baseball and Jim Leyland’s headache. Everyone loves to hate him and that other guy that went nowhere…oh yeah! Bobby Bonilla.

Griffey was on his way to reaching his potential as a prominent complete package baseball player. Everyone loves the kid.

1997

Bonds, 3 MVPs later, stuck on a mediocre Giants team putting up respectable numbers for the juiced ball era. Still a jerk, but no one cares since his career is locked.

Griffey, 1 MVP and is considered the best ball player of that time as the Mariners are looking to become one of the strongest teams in baseball. Everyone likes the maturation.

2002

Bonds, a record-setting legend, possibly on his way to finally getting his World Series ring. Could break Hank Aaron’s record even at his age. Still a jerk, but the press must learn to love him.

Griffey went home and became the biggest disappointment in recent history. No shot at any records with his injuries. No chance for any rings with Nazi-following GMs and owners. The worthless whining jerk of baseball.
Don’t mind me, just a random thought.
