Controversial encounters between law-enforcement and civilians - the omnibus thread #2

I mean, it’s not like she did return it but neglected to rewind. Those people deserved felony charges.

The footage shows there were around 8 seconds between the officer approaching Denk’s vehicle and the gun being fired.

The gun was on his lap. WTF?

OK, two possibilities.

  1. Suicide by cop
  2. cop is full of shit

If the driver plans to shoot it out, and the gun is that close (literally in his lap), why wait till the cops comes to the window to reach for it?

Oh, right. cop is a lying sack of shit.

The bodycam footage does not give a clear indication where Denk’s hands are until a split second before Miller fires, where it is seen that Denk does not have a gun in his hands.

“It looks like his hands are being raised to put them on the steering wheel as ordered. Not that he’s reaching for his gun,” said Jared Keenan, a senior attorney with ACLU Arizona.

What’s sad is the guy from the article who has a misdemeanor for “Freddy Got Fingered.” Arguably, he was doing a public good by removing that movie from circulation.

Some of us were taught, and much more importantly saw for ourselves, that the police (and judiciary, et al.) are representatives of the state whose purpose is to manage the state in opposition to civil society.

An interesting topic would be stories of police officers who have faced consequences and discipline for failing to uphold the will of The Man. From not writing enough sketchy parking tickets or sweeping the poor away from downtown streets to much worse structural and direct violence.

Ya mean like this…

A former police officer who alleged he was fired for not shooting a black suspect during a standoff

More about Andrew Brown Jr.; it is not happy news:

Be respectful of jackbooted thugs who are itching to kill you.

Six police officers confront a group of teenagers in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Their crime? Riding bicycles without a license. Their bikes were confiscated and one teen was cuffed and taken to jail.

I’m sure they were not following all traffic laws. But I still think it was an overreaction.

Fast forward to 8:10:

Or don’t fast forward and understand why this happened in the first place.

Fuck the edit feature

Things have truly gotten bad for the cops in NYC, according to this tweet from the detective’s union; apparently, you can’t even stand in front of a broken window taking notes while a uniformed officer films you for no reason without a hardened criminal lightly tapping you with a stick causing you to fall to your knees for 20 seconds, after which the perp slowly backs away while maintaining eye contact with the camera, until the two uniformed cops standing just out of frame (but fully visible to the vicious psychopath) slowly chase him away without issuing any commands while the cameraman stands there and pans back to you looking up from your notes and making eye contact with the camera just before the cut.

They’re only pursuing civil charges, of course.

Not worthy of an Oscar. LOL

He should not give up his day job.

Texas, again:

Mr. Brown was shot five times:

The elderly woman with dementia who was assaulted by police, and had her arm broken and her shoulder dislocated, was handcuffed to a bench inside the police department without medical attention for six hours. She was also bleeding from her nose. The cops watched the body cam footage and laughed when one of them shouted, “Ready for the pop” at the point where her shoulder was dislocated.
Oh, and this occurred last year, and the department claims they knew nothing about it until the video became viral in April.

A white woman drove her car through a group of black teenagers. She has been arrested, which is surprising, but the police want everybody to know that it wasn’t a hate crime.

Well, that is not surprising from a bunch of lying-ass SOBs.

What struck me about the video is that at no time does anyone ask the obviously confused woman if she understands what’s happening.

Their grandmothers must be very disappointed with them.

Let’s see.

He lied on his application.
He did not follow police procedure.
He was let go from his previous police department when they found he lacked the emotion maturity pass the firearms training to handle a weapon…

Sure, give him his job back.

A Georgia county sheriff has been federally indicted for making inmates sit in restraint chairs for hours at a time, suffering pain and bodily injury. This is years after he was not charged for shooting a friend and also dodging corruption charges.

A Sergeant in Hartford, CT is verbally abused and spat at by an irate, almost-surely-intoxicated arrestee (who his colleagues have well under physical control), and he his fist springs into action:
