Controversial encounters between law-enforcement and civilians - the omnibus thread

That’s some charming misogyny right there.

No, I have laser eyes.

And here I’ve always imagined you with Bette Davis eyes.

The thing is, the typical woman also is able to live in the world without being in perpeual pants-wetting fear and without being prone to immediate subservience.

Despite your desperate stupidity, the contrast here is not man/woman. After all, the prototypical gun stroker is a doughy white man.

And you still carry a gun? Talk about insecure; do you also wear a belt and suspenders?

Yes, much to the disgust of people who use phrases like “I live like a man”.

But hey, you keep pretending other people are prejudiced whilst putting your own ones on clear display. It makes you look so much better.

Hey, Steophan, keep picking on trivial tangents in lieu of actual arguments. That’ll win everybody over.

It’s not a trivial tangent, though. Hentor is one of the first to cry “racism!!!” at the slightest provocation. So, either he’s a hypocrite, and should shut the fuck up, or he’s not actually a misogynist, and should learn from this not to always interpret something as prejudiced, because it probably isn’t.

Well, that was an embarrassing gotcha ya fail.

Ha ha no, just proves you have zero self awareness.

Well, this tiresome gambit has grown tiresome. Since he can’t win on any rational basis, Steophan is seizing upon vocabulary issues.

What’s next? Neil Armstrong was sexist because he said “giant leap for mankind” ?

How about that misogynist Jason Segel and his “Am I a Man or am I a Muppet?” song.

As an actual woman, I don’t choose to take it that way. “Person with some fucking dignity” takes longer to type. Clearly he was going for man vs. rabbit, not man vs. woman.

Actually, you’d be the misogynist in this case - by interpreting the opposite of “I live like a man” (meaning here on one’s own two feet, standing up for oneself, not bowing to any two bit jerk with a smidge of authority, a shouty voice and a gun etc.) to be “like a woman”, and thence implying that women don’t do that.

When of course the opposite of “living like a man” in this usage, that is to say living in constant shaking, yellow-bellied fear, is “living like a rat”. Or a cockroach. Or possibly some sort of skittering, Stygian lemur.

Linguistics, beyotch.

"“Are you a man or a mouse” is, I believe, the most common idiom.

Well done everybody. Now, next time someone makes a tenuous, unsupported claim of racism when there’s a far more realistic option, apply the same logic you’ve done here.

Why should anyone care what someone who thinks that “Blacks are subhuman” is a neutral statement has to say about the claims of racism made by others? You clearly parted ways with reality a long time ago, so are no judge of what’s ‘realistic’ when it comes to racism.

But keep fucking that chicken (or person in chicken mascot outfit, whichever you prefer.)

Cute. In a hasty retreat kind of way.

Yes, I’ve hastily retreated by staying in the exact same position I held all along. Obviously.

I’m honestly a little disappointed that Smapti and Steophan couldn’t hold true to the values they had espoused in their previous posts, where if a cop says he would fear something and if someone has something that looks like a gun it’s a reason for fear.

No, a man loading a gun in a Walmart, and a cop saying that was cause for fear, is apparently not a cause for fear at all! They (Steophan directly) are of the opinion that a man with a towel on his arm waving down a police car is more of a risk than a man loading a gun in a Walmart!

On other threads on this board, pro-gun people have been saying that they think what this Walmart customer did was stupid and he’s lucky he didn’t get shot. Smapti, Steophan and Doorhinge seem to be different to most other people who are pro-gun, and Steophan doesn’t even have the excuse of living in a pro-gun culture.

Next time I’m in America, if I have any sort of accident or incident, I will not call the police until there are lots of other people around, like I’m already at hospital. Due to a disability, I can’t raise my arms; I could be shot by the police if I called them about an incident and they had even the slightest fear. And Smapti and Steophan would say that was fine.
