Controversial encounters between law-enforcement and civilians - the omnibus thread

Was this not a “controversial encounter between law-enforcement and civilians”?

Where’s the controversy? This was bad and everyone knows it. Murder is wrong. Murdering two police offers in cold blood is really wrong.

Apparently not everyone: NYC Protesters Chant: ‘What Do We Want? Dead Cops!’

People who say they want dead cops are bad and shouldn’t say that. Anyone here disagree?

They shouldn’t chant it but deep down they may not be bad people, just regular people behaving badly out of frustration.

How’s that for splitting hairs?

And yet you’re always the first to stand up for these “protesters”. Who now turn out to be murderers.

People seem quite happy to treat the police as an oppressive group as a whole, despite the demonstrable fact that it’s not true, and that unwarranted violence by the police is rare, and yet all the violent protests, riots and now murders are somehow “isolated incidents”…

ME!

People who say they want dead cops are assholes and should say that . . . so we know who they are (on the off chance that it, the assholeness, isn’t otherwise obvious).

CMC fnord!

That’s quite a fucking leap and frankly an asinine thing to say.

Not sure who you’re talking about – protesters are great, in general (just like, say, cops, by the way). There are a few bad ones (cops too). But in case you weren’t sure, I definitely oppose murder. Murder is very bad, and calling for murder is also bad. Protesting is not calling for murder, and calling for murder is not protesting. Those are two different things. So I don’t support anyone who turns about to be a murderer. And most of the protesters aren’t murderers and don’t call for murder.

LOL. It certainly depends on how you define “rare” and “isolated incidents”. I think the amount of unwarranted violence by cops could and should be lower – it’s much, much lower in some other countries, for example, so we know that it can be lower.

As for the protesters – so far, I’ve seen no indication that violence, riots, and murders are occurring in anything but a tiny amount compared to the overall protests (which, in the case of Garner, are mostly supported by the public based on the polling).

Your characterizations of myself and the protesters (other than a very small number of incidents) are wildly inaccurate, it seems.

Cite?

You’re welcome.

In any discussion both sides will have their assholes.
It’s best to ignore them regardless of what position they take.

This is bad and you should feel bad.

Wow, that is reprehensible!

And this is ridiculous, nay, moronic.

VinylTurnip requested a poster who supported the murders in order to start a dialogue. Wish granted. Simply saying ignore the poster is not dialogue. If that were the case, there wouldn’t be a fourteen page Starving Artist thread.

Here’s a dialogue: get lives is an imbecilic troll. Anyone want to argue against?

Glad we could pry that out of you. You’re amaze-balls.

[Ferguson] protesters chanted “Pigs in a blanket” after two NYC police officers were shot execution style in Brooklyn Saturday afternoon.

One Ferguson protest leader Bassem Masri, who was leading the chants in the above video, posted this tweet after the shootings.

The police have no1 2blame but themselves4the cops getting murdered inNY #Ferguson

Bassem Masri was invited to meet with Eric Holder’s DOJ in November to discuss police reform.

So now all protestors against police violence are guilty of murdering these two cops? :dubious:

Perhaps if we made guns less commonly available? Just throwin’ that out there, a thought.
