Controversial encounters between law-enforcement and civilians - the omnibus thread

Of murder? Yes. There’s more to murder than killing someone.

Curiouser and curiouser.

The Texas Department of Public Safety has released a video of Sandra Bland’s traffic stop, and there is no evidence of any tampering with that video. It all looks perfectly normal, although they might want to send someone to check out that weird space-time anomaly that’s causing cars to disappear and reappear from about 32:30 onwards for a minute or so.

I take it this is your first interaction with Steophan?

Smapti is too damaged to be a productive contributor to this message board. Smapti’s dysfunction causes him to incessantly post the most heinous, odious, inhuman content that does nothing but generate incredulous reactions from people who are not impaired. He has become a terrible blight on this board.

If everyone on this board was smart and sane they’d all agree with me on everything and there’d be no-one to argue with.

Are you kidding? I love Smapti! I think we should have a special sub forum just for asking him questions about stuff

Why not? There’ve been several where sacrificing your kids was required, doesn’t seem that different.

I’m going to link to your post in the GD thread that was just started about this video.

NBC news reported that the Texas Dept of safety is looking into possible tampering of the Bland videos.

There’s no good outcome, because even if there is some innocent explanation for the glitches, nobody (other than a couple of twits whose names begin with S) will believe it because police now have essentially zero credibility in these incidents.

Here’s one from several years ago at my alma mater:

Footage Of Maryland Student’s Beating Goes Missing, Re-Appears Minus Some “Editing”

Now, I’m sure someone can tell us this is only a coincidence.

Just like how 18 and half minutes of tape were accidentally erased.

Over and over and over. By accident.

If you guys want to feed something so badly I’d suggest pigeons or ducks instead.

You have to give **Sampti **a break. The poor fella is obviously scared witless - petrified of everything that moves on this planet; probably 7 out of 10 things that don’t move too.

An asthmatic, Troy Goode of Memphis, was hogtied and laid face down on his chest. Witnesses hear him screaming, I can’t breathe! He dies. Police say it was from an “LSD overdose”.

You’d think they would be smart enough to at least make up an excuse that’s actually possible. I guess they chose LSD because the guy was white.

Could we describe him as “distracted and weepy” do you think? If so I know the kind of job he’d be perfect for.

From the article:

[My emphasis]

Can the S & S twins recognize which extreme they’re on?

Probably not, since in their view everyone else in this thread is an “Fuck tha Police” anarchist and they’re in the normal middle of the bell curve.

If you change that slightly to “If they hadn’t been doing that, the police wouldn’t have killed them”, you have at least part of my view. It’s not that the police had to kill them, it’s that their own illegal actions lead (and could be predicted to lead) to their deaths. The majority of people mentioned here killed by the cops were stupid criminals, or at least suspected of criminality to the point where arrest would be justified. Which is entirely separate to whether the kilings were legal.

As for “fuck tha police anarchists”, there’s only one or two who actually think that, but there’s several more who’s views, if fully followed, would lead to a situation very similar to if the anarchists won - that is, no functional policing.

Fine. Then arrest them. Try them. Punish them.

But you’re arguing for preemptive execution.
