Controversial encounters between law-enforcement and civilians - the omnibus thread

Have we disenfranchised them? Have we prevented them from pleading their case to the government and other voters?

The fact that the poor stay poor in our democracy doesn’t mean our democracy is broken.

I thought that’s what you meant by marginalized.

I find that hard to believe, given the continued contempt you show for liberals and the liberal bubble in this thread. I’m now thinking Andy was right and you are a troll.

My country has a private ballot for a reason. Why do you want to know? How does it change what I’ve written?

A big part of the underlying problem appears to be shown here, in the recent UC Berkeley incident:

Which tells me that the police have a severe disability with respect to adaptation. Present them with a different situation and they are unable to adjust their behavior. They have a script from which they rarely stray.

This is a very serious problem that needs to be addressed. I mean, we might as well replace the police with one note robots (which would not have fear of death) for what we are getting.

Didn’t the Berkeley violence occur off campus, which would have been the purview of the city of Berkeley police?

How does that matter? There were some kind of LEOs there. They stood and watched, because they were apparently unable to discover some intervening level between observation and excessive force.

What is these people’s malfunction? I do not get it.

Because, just being liberal doesn’t make you immune from error, or exaggeration.

The liberal bubble (all bubbles) should be treated with contempt. Especially on site like this one.

There was this movement in America called the tea party. A lot of them claimed to be independents rather than Republicans but they seemed to vote almost exclusively for Republicans. The tea party label was really just flimsy camoflauge for Republicans who didn’t want to take responsibility for the sins of Republicans that they had elected in previous cycles.

Here is how the conversations typically went:

Tea Party: We should get rid of Obamacare, lower taxes, get rid of unions and get tough on foreign policy.

Democrats: You Republicans already had your turn and you basically burned down the global economy and got us involved in an intractable war in the middle east and lied to the American people to get us there.

Tea Party: Hey, we’re NOT Republicans. Those guys are assholes. We’re the tea party!

Democrats: So who did you vote for in 2000 and 2004?

Tea Party: That doesn’t matter. We’re not fucking Republicans.

So situational awareness is not a strong point for either of you … even in hindsight and after months of discussion.

I wish there were a Hate this Poster button, since I don’t want to Ignore you two. Like a stinking giraffe turd encountered on a road, your extreme stupidities are so rare that curiosity outweighs revulsion.

This is true. Though, for the record, neither does being a conservative, being apolitical, being a cop or even being a furry. No humans are immune from error. If they were, I probably wouldn’t feel the need for armed revolution.

This might be the one thing we agree on. Once nice thing about the anarcho-satanist bubble is that it doesn’t echo. Too many people in it who want to play devil’s advocate.

BTW, did you know that in Canada the Tea Party is a rock band, not a political movement? What does this have to do with this thread? I have no idea, just like I have no idea what your rant about the tea party has to do with this thread.

Our local newspaper this morning talked about a group of anarchists called “black bloc” who wear masks and black Ninja-like costumes and are showing up more and more at Bay Area protests to start violence. The article said they derive from a similar group that’s been operating in Europe for years.

Black bloc do not seem like anarchists to me, and I think it does a disservice to identify them thus. They are, at best, nihilists, but probably more like simple vandals.

Black Bloc garb is common sense as far a personal protection goes, but mindless and counter-productive as far political movement goes. Since the police are going to gas and club protesters, 'cause that’s what police do, wearing gas masks of ski masks, padding and helmets is just sensible personal protection for protesters, and since the police are going to take vids for use in prosecutions, face coverings are also sensible.

The problem is that the Black Bloc people are into vandalism and violence, letting their inner monkeys out by flinging shit in the form of molotov cocktails, bricks, and whatever else they can get their hands on, and destroying private and personal property that has nothing to do with their cause du jour. This causes more harm than good because it detracts from the issues being protested by drawing attention to their own misbehaviour, and by forcing the authorities to become more violent rather than less violent.

A pox on them for getting in the way of social and political progress through peaceful but firm protests.

They have been in North America for about three decades. Their activities at the Toronto G20 summit were almost as shameful as the actions of the police against innocent protesters.

They are anarchists. Destroying private property** is **their cause du jour. “When we smash a window, we aim to destroy the thin veneer of legitimacy that surrounds private property rights.”

I disagree, they weren’t even in the same ballpark as the mass arrests and kettling done by the police.

Oh, and Eschereal, they are anarchists. Some are also vandals. Some are probably also nihilists. Those three terms are not mutually exclusive.

Their concealment serves to obscure group as well as individual identification. Anarchists? Trolls? Vandals? Provocateurs? Nihilists? Who knows?

I’ve just thought of a great product idea that will save lives. I’m going to reveal it here, free of charge — entrepreneurs are welcome to run with the idea, to make money and to save lives.

Are you a black person tired of getting shot by police when your taillight goes out? When you forget to signal and then see a police car flashing its light in your rear-view mirror, do you experience anguish deciding which course is safer: stepping on the gas to escape or pulling over and risking being tased or shot?

Buy a pair of your very own Drumpf-brand Fast-attaching Handcuffs™. When approached by an officer of the law, put them on quickly. The unique patented ratchet handles will allow you to cuff both wrists simultaneously. Put the key in your mouth and exit your vehicle, displaying the cuffs to the officer. He will realize you are no longer a threat; your survival chances increase dramatically. To ensure that the law enforcement officer sees your cuffs easily and knows you are wearing Drumpf-brand Handcuffs™ the handcuff are painted bright orange.

Again, be sure to place the key in your mouth. If the officer is still frightened and fears you may be able to unlock the cuffs and remove them quickly to fire your saturday-night special, offer to swallow the key.[/INDENT]

For advertising, I think Black Lives Matter might be a good slogan. But be sure to market to Muslims, Hispanics and scrufty-looking white people as well.

For added safety, leg cuffs are also available. Buy two pairs of handcuffs, one for yourself, one for a passenger, and get a pair of child’s handcuffs for free!

In today’s America it is increasingly clear that school integration has been a disaster. The skills needed to be a Wall Street investment banker are very different from the skills needed to be a thug or a ho. As just one important example, consider teaching children how to relate to law enforcement.

Teaching the better children, the emphasis needs to be on identifying threats and taking appropriate action: calling 911, or eliminating a threat themselves when the matter is urgent. Our children need to be trained to recognize the costumes (e.g. head-dresses) worn by banned groups, suspicious dialects, and skin colors associated with criminals. A short course in Arabic might be useful: we wouldn’t want a new-comer kid from the Hamptons just hoping to join in a playground game blown up for shouting “All-ee, all-ee, outs in free” because it sounds a little like “Allahu Akbar.”

In the inner cities or specific rural areas, OTOH, training needs to be quite different. Inferior kids need to learn that when approached by law enforcement they must slowly unbuckle their pants, demonstrate they have no weapons, and sit on the ground, hands behind their head. They might be convinced to improve their safety further by spending their lunch money on Drumpf-brand Fast-attaching Handcuffs™.

But of course it is hard to provide two completely different classes on You and the Police when the PC libtards are busing the better children to the slums.

But good news! With the new direction our education system is taking, the 63-year old mistake called Brown v. Board of Education will gradually be reversed! With large federal subsidies, voucher systems will be put in place throughout the country. (Even the libtard states will probably go along as otherwise they lose the federal voucher dollars their taxes will already be paying for!) Private schools will become the norm for the children of the better people. With declining funding, the better teachers from the socialist schools will transfer to the private schools. The private schools will not get all of their funding from the vouchers, of course. Entrepreneurs will therefore have little interest in building schools in the impoverished areas, like inner cities, which breed thugs and hos, and where terrorists congregate.

In round figures, about half a Trillion dollars is spent every year in America for primary- and secondary-school education. We’re already thankful to Trump and DeVos for taking this huge source of profit out of the hands of the indolent socialists and turning it over to patriotic entrepreneurs! And, because politically-correct notions like school integration will no longer apply in the privatised system, we can give the different categories of children the specific training they need. Blacks and Muslims will learn to save their lives by putting on Drumpf-brand Fast-attaching Handcuffs™. Children of white Christians and other better people may also be in the market for handcuffs — they can put them on one of their dark-skinned playmates if he or she starts acting like a terrorist.

Black Lives Matter! Thank God for Betsy DeVos!

Or they’re, you know, cops. It’s always good to have a good smashed window or two to justify thumping on an entire demonstration. Makes for a cool media narrative, too - if anything can draw 700 cameras away from someone with a reasoned message in a pico-second, it’s a burning trashbin.

This reminds me of a thought I had for a protest – everyone, BLM members, supporters, and allies, assumes the spread-eagle-on-the-ground position (slowly and carefully) any time they interact with any law enforcement official for any reason (unless they physically can’t, like they’re in their car). White allies, black supporters, everyone. It’s a way to visibly show that there is reasonable fear that police might be capable of deadly violence without actually presenting any danger or risk to anyone.

Did we mention this one yet?

Curiously, the cop was not arrested or charged with a crime. Two teens were arrested, tho.

Because they and their friends were terrorizing him? Its only news because he is a cop. Were he an engineer he would continue to be terrorized.

Clearly you did not read the article and you know nothing about the events that led up to the video’d situation.
