…a woman has been arrested and jailed for following local police instructions about pulling over at traffic stops. The local cop who wanted her to ignore these instructions charged her with resisting a LEO, which is a felony in Indiana, whether or not you resist arrest.
But not without taking a shot at the cop’s victim.
Then why don’t you explain the difference between what an Uber driver does and what a taxi driver does?
Smapti’s characterization of the Uber driver is correct; my cite is the state of Nevada.
And you’ll notice that the Uber driver is a licensed livery driver, and thus, a cabdriver.
Sorry, but I couldn’t find what you were referring to on that horribly formatted textvomit forum page; do you have a news article you could link to?
It might be correct for Nevada (or it may not – you’ve provided no cite, of course), but that doesn’t make it correct everywhere or anywhere else.
I honestly don’t know the legal status of Uber everywhere.
[Plainclothes cop who acted like and asshole jerkface to an Uber driver on video now stripped of badge and gun, placed on “modified duty”.
Sounds good!
Oh sorry, you must have missed the other Uber threads where I posted links to how Nevada shut them down because they were illegally operating a taxi service in the state. It was national news, since Nevada is the only state with the balls to enforce their laws, but I suppose it was easily missed, what with Thanksgiving and all.

Thanks. I’ve enjoyed this pleasant discussion with a fellow Doper pal in which you’ve helped me understand something about Nevada (but nowhere else) that I didn’t know before. I look forward to future friendly discussions on this and other topics!
Fired is all I will find acceptable.
Anyone else see the irony in a cop being swiftly fired for being rude, but when he shoots and kills an unarmed person, no biggie?
I mean, I’m glad the jerk was fired. But dayum, the irony burns.
Indeed.
Here’s one. The local paper is being careful not to antagonize the department by mentioning their prior advisory about traffic stops; unfortunately, I have not yet pinned down a cite for same.
BTW, that “textvomit” is called Reddit. It gets easy to use pretty quickly.
I would highly suggest everyone get over the Uber/Taxi debate as there are probably 50 different right and wrong answers. Ubers status in many states is highly debatable to the point of its own thread for any given state.
But if we do it here, we can call each other naughty names.
Taxis are hailed from the street, are yellow and have city issued medallions.
Livery cars are usually dark in color and run off radio dispatch and are not generally allowed to pick up hailed fares from the streets. Most frequently, they are used to ferry employees of client companies to and from work or the airports, but individuals may call the companies to make their own private arrangements.
Witness: NJ police punched, kicked, allowed dog to bite Phillip White before he died in custody
TheDailyJournal
This second story mentions the dead man had been resisting arrest and that a cop at the scene had stated the dead man tried to take his gun.
Might turn out to be a non-story as far as cop misbehavior goes.
Why is this dog trained to attack an unconscious person?
Answer: because this is a police state.
Police dogs are trained but don’t always act as expected. Here is an example of a British (Police State) Police dog getting over excited by rowdy crowds at a football (soccer) match and attacking a policeman. Who is in uniform.
