Of course not, don’t be silly.
There are many other ways that the cops abuse the mentally ill rather than just shooting them. They rape them, or, sometimes, they play with their lives like it’s a game.

…this is a little bit different.
Protest at Berkeley.
No surprises there.
Here is the official twitter account for the Berkeley Police Department. I’m not going to link directly (and they may choose to delete the posts), but they are posting the names, ages and a mugshot of the protesters they arrested. Scrolling through the twitter feed posting mugshots doesn’t look to be a normal practice.

There is something really distasteful about doing this. I know it isn’t illegal to do so. But it gives the impression that it is politically motivated. And in the wake of things like Stormy Daniels getting arrested and incidents like thisand like thishappening with no reprecussions one can’t help but think that there are a significant amount of people in law enforcement who are committed to going rouge under this presidency.
…and now in the replies people are posting full names and photos of Berkeley Police officers. So that worked out well for them.
You’re straight up trash.
Now I’m picturing a bunch of cops sharing makeup tips on how much blush they need to use to appear innocent after they shoot a civilian.
Here is another slimey douchebag that doesn’t deserve the light of day. Tasering an 11 year old for shoplifting because she was walking away from him. WTF?!?
“DROP THE FUCKlNG JUJUBES N0W!”
Arkansas cop fired after telling black men, “You don’t belong in my city.”
The vast majority of Americans (and Dopers, it seems) seem to be just fine with tasering anyone at all for any reason at all.
A Florida cop puts an 11-year-old in handcuffs for not stopping bouncing a basketball in a gym after a police athletic league game.
Presumably, this is a coach. Of kids. And he’s gotta to to the nuclear option?
From that story: "The league claims its goal is to create “positive relationships between law enforcement officers and the youth of our community through educational, athletic and leadership programs.”
Some positive relationship building in handcuffing a kid for bouncing a ball.
Then again, instilling fear of police is probably a good thing given what has been happening lately.
Going back to the “Living While Black in America” thread, this is one example - just one out of undoubtedly many - that black people experience from a young age and continue to experience into adulthood. This is something that might happen to a white child, but it’s much, much less likely to, and it almost damn sure wouldn’t have happened to any white child I grew up with. And there were little rat bastard children who undoubtedly did many of the same mischievous shit that children of any race do. Black children are criminalized from an early age in a way that people of other ethnicities are not.
Seriously? Bouncing a fucking ball? Not listening to an adult?
See, this also points to another problem, which is the problem of bias in policing and in many of our public community institutions. The police officer treated the black child not as a mischievous smart-ass little kid, but as a thug. It reveals the underlying psychology of many police officers in their encounters, specifically their encounters with black people. They approach every black individual with suspicious of criminal behavior, even if they’re dressed in a suit and tie and driving to work.
Another thing that an episode such as this one reveals about police training is that, evidently, much of what passes for “training” doesn’t emphasize deescalation or conflict resolution; rather, it clearly emphasizes a reliance on overwhelming force in even the slightest examples of friction or resistance. There are so many other possible techniques that the officer could have used besides the option he chose, which was essentially a nuclear option.
This kind of mentality does the exact opposite of what we expect from police, which is to maintain public safety. But as I’ve said on another thread, or maybe this one, the way that officers are being trained to behave is a product of an authoritarian mentality that has gripped our society, particularly the white population, over the last 2-3 decades. We’ve been encouraging police brutality, aggressive prosecution, harsh sentencing, and even harsher treatment in detention, without any effort at all toward educating and rehabilitating people.

Last I checked, an intentional homicide without any justification or extenuating circumstances is a crime. Surprising that it took the authorities in Minneapolis eight months to figure that out. Getting a search warrant for the victim’s house, after her demise, was a nice touch. Justine Damond investigators search home for drugs | Daily Mail Online
Guess they couldn’t find anything to get Noor off the hook. Your guess is as good as mine whether he’ll be found guilty, or if found guilty, gets anything more than a sentence at the low end of the range.
Where do you see restraint in that story?
I’m not saying the police did anything wrong here (except maybe missing the fact the driver was drunk when writing the initial ticket), but beyond that?
Good. They want to “dox” people? Then they get the same treatment. Good.
… for bouncing basketball at JaxPAL gym …
… dribbling a ball Saturday in the JaxPAL gym on West 33rd Street when an officer asked him repeatedly to stop. …
… ‘He was being disrespectful,’ …
All can say is “what the fuck”
I’ve gotten really sick and tired of “too soon to know” and the other one, “until all the facts are in”.
Those words are really starting to mean “Fuck you all. We will do what we want to who we want when we want, and stall until you stupid sheep forget. Then we will drop it any sham investigations and do it again”.
Police aren’t the only ones with dangerous jobs.
Maybe show this video to the community to explain why the trash collectors are now allowed to open fire on passing vehicles.
