Controversy about Carl Orff (re. nazism, antisemitism)

For the context : a close friend of mine, who’s a music teacher is preparing an examination for a higher skilled/pay teaching job. Amongst other things, she intended to present to the jury a theme about (or refering to, I’m not sure) Carl Orff. But she was completely unaware there was a controvery about him. Now that she heard about it, she’s wondering how touchy the topic is, and whether she should forget about presenting this theme or not.
I don’t know much about this, so I’m wondering if knowledgeable posters could give me (and her) some more infos on the issue. What the state of the controversy? How is he generally perceived? Was he a member of the nazi party or at the contrary are there evidences he was opposed to its rule? How compliant was he with the nazi authorities? How was he viewed by the german authorities? Are there evidences or suspicions that he was an antisemite?
That’s a lot of questions, but I’m not asking for a thesis. Just a rough idea about who he was in relation with nazism, what the the state of the controversy is, how he is generally perceived nowadays, and how touchy the issue is.

Thanks in advance…

I saw a program on TV some years back and a relative, his sister if I remember corectly, was interviewed and stated that Hitler thought he was fabulous and never twigged to the fact that Orff was taking a rise out of the Nazi’s. After a while some of Hitler’s subordinates developed suspicions that Orff was poking fun at them and he (Orff) had to make a hasty getaway.

There is a Wikipedia article about him, if that is any help.
