Convince me to play Eve Online

I’ve been told that Eve is a great game…if you’re an accountant with the soul of a mugger.

I dunno about the “accountant” part, but my pirate heart finds it lovely.

FWIW; I have an old Eve account with two-someodd months of training on it.

If you can honestly have a good PvP time at that level, I’m all ears.

I’d like to ransom and grief, and I’ve never been to 0.0

Works best with an experienced buddy, but seriously, the mistake a lot of folks make is assuming that you need to be in heavy ships to make a dent.

A newbie in my corp is considered useful as soon as he has a warp scrambler, stasis web, and afterburner. If you can come out in 400k worth of tackle frigate and tie down a battleship long enough for me to crush it with The Obituator™ (my Maelstrom-class PvP battleship) without losing your cool, you’re good enough for me even if his drones wreck you a new asshole.

Go look on battleclinic for PvP fits for the premier frigate of your starting race, start working towards being able to put one together. In the meanwhile, find a 1.0 or 0.9 system and cruise around the asteroid belts. Try to find someone who’s mining with nothing but a jettisoned can of minerals (not a secure container, just a canister.) You can either just steal directly, or you can be nasty and jettison your own can and move his ore to yours–if you do this discreetly enough, he’ll access “your” can and you’ll have kill rights.

A halfway decent Rifter can devastate most newbies who are mining. At that point you just make the attempt at slapping a warp disruptor on their escape pod and ransom away.

Once you’ve got that down, you can then start on the heavier ships. Concurrent with that, if you REALLY want to grief, you learn the astrometrics skills and get good at probing, because the best source of piracy income is griefing people in missions and either selling them their own mission required items back to them or else getting them to shoot at you and then coming back and beating their sorry tails.

Not to mention that you can get into a rifter almost immediately.

They are really quite fun little ships, even though they look like a pod racer :dubious::smack:
