Cooked and raw food mix

Lets say I have some chicken soup. It was made with little more than a chicken, water, some salt, and some green onions. I eat half the chicken, but I discover I have half a raw chicken frozen in the freezer.

Is it dangerous if I throw that raw chicken into the already cooked soup along with the cooked chicken and recook the whole batch? Is the raw going to do anything bad to the cooked food?

It’s not dangerous as long as the new chicken is completely cooked. You will probably overcook everything else in the soup as a result, though.

Ditto. You’ll end up with mushy onions and tough chicken from the original soup by the time the new chicken is done. Better to just poach the new chicken in some water and then add it to the existing soup once it’s done.
