Cookies Made With Rye Flour

I went shopping and I passed the bakery and they had this kind of cookie I’d never seen. It was made with Rye flour. Well I love rye bread so I bought some. Unfortunately it tasted like rye bread with sugar on it. LOL

It was edible but I don’t call rye bread with sugar a cookie.

My question is, has anyone made any cookies with rye flour that actually taste like a cookie?

I’ve replaced part of the flour in a cookie recipe with rye flour. The result was a bit dense. I think it would probably work best in a gingerbread recipe, or anything that’s a bit heavier with similar spices (ginger, cardamom).
