So Mr. Singular has just been warned about his blood pressure. I’ve been making a lot of stir-fried vegetables and rice, but it’s getting old. Anyone have any quick and simple meal suggestions?
Generally, for my Dad, we just avoid adding salt to anything and avoid the use of items that naturally have a lot of salt in them (soy sauce or fish sauce, for instance). Normally this involves avoiding as much pre-made stuff as we can and making it ourselves.
If he doesn’t need to watch the carbohydrates, then pasta dishes are a good alternative: don’t add salt to the water, and make your own sauce. Sauces can be made ahead of time, and it usually doesn’t take long to make the pasta.
If you have a slow cooker, stews and soups are perfectly good for someone with high blood pressure, just don’t add salt or salty things to it. (This doesn’t fall into the ‘quick’ category, but if you have a few moments in the morning you can let it simmer all day and be ready when you get home in the evening.)

I have high blood pressure also. No salt, but you can use NU-SALT as a subsitute if he absolutely needs that taste. I use it and it’s fine. NO fast foods, they kill. No salty junk food. Other than that he can have about the same as you. I eat a lot of chicken. A favorite is to take chicken strips (use PAM to cook on stove top) and use tortilla shells, cheese, lettuce, mushrooms sauteed with onions, and salsa, and make your own faihitas (sp.?). No fat and they are low cal too. 20 minutes tops.
Crock pot is also a healthy way to cook.
fish, with a tomato based sauce and rice.

fajitas.
spaghetti bolognese
grilled chicken breast, boiled new potatoes, peas.
