Picked up a great book yesterday, and yes, it’s called:
Lucky Wander Boy
Gotta love that title. Here’s the description from the book’s website :
He’s nearing thirty, but feckless Adam Pennyman has finally found a purpose: The Catalogue of Obsolete Entertainments , his encyclopedic analysis of every video game ever made. But his research hits a snag with Lucky Wander Boy, the surreal game that ruled his world years ago. Despite its underground cult following, Lucky Wander Boy seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth.
But when he lands a copywriting job at the Hollywood production company that own’s the game’s film rights, Adam’s luck takes a turn.
I’ve only just started it last night, so I’m not too far in, but it’s quite good so far. The interested can read an excerpt here .
I just read a review of this book in the June issue of Fantasy and Science Fiction . The reviewer (Elizabeth Hand) said she had a tough time getting into it, but that she was glad she stuck with it.
