'Cause that’s a face. No question. Creepy face. Left edge of the frame. Person lying behind the pillow. Forehead, brow, eye, half a nostril, mouth, chin…How does that face look like upholstery?

Yeah. My monitor is calibrated fairly dark. I took the photo into Photoshop and increased the contrast and shadow tones and, yeah, it definitely is a face. So I retract the “it very well may be the upholstery” comment above.

The tooltip hover answer doesn’t mention the most interesting thing about #18. In the left side of the photo, towards the back, in between the trees, you can see a man who is almost certainly the famous “Tank Man” of Tiananmen Square, heading towards the tanks. Note that he’s dressed the same and is carrying the same packages.

Some of them don’t live up to the name, really. But a couple don’t do it for me because I still can’t see what they’re talking about, like #6, #10. I see something that could possibly be what I’m supposed to see in #6, but it could just as easily be a tree. And #10 just seems like it’s too small to see the detail they want you to see.

Pic 6 is too low quality. I downloaded and opened so I could enlarge, but the resolution is crap, so it didn’t help. There might be a giraffe, but I wouldn’t swear to it.

Pic 10, the face is there and it is large. It is very faint. I downloaded and opened in editing software to change the contrast, and it stands out better. Angry face.

I’m sure #9 was easier for women.)

I’d hardly call some of them a “hidden payoff”. Photo #1 for example is taken at a birds of prey show and the bird was probably the subject of the photo. But they are quite cool.

Pic 1 fooled me for a while. I didn’t see the owl until I read the hover. Yes, it was the subject of the photo, but kinda blended so it wasn’t obvious at first. And I totally didn’t see Captain Jack until pointed out, but yes, I think there’s a guy in a costume in the stands.

Yeah, I don’t think that’s manipulated at all. Just a variation of the “holding up tiny person in the background” effect that most every amateur photographer comes across.

I disagree. He’s too close to them. He probably was in the original image in the background with that effect, but I think it’s been manipulated to move him closer.

To tell you the truth, none of the pictures look manipulated to me at all. The only one that was questionable was Panda Man, and it looks like that one’s real, too.

No, panda man is just a really good body paint job. The one most manipulated is the fire dragon. They say wolf, but I say dragon. That’s definite manipulation.

The others look real.
