Coolest TV/Movie car

One year in the mid thirties, Mercedes was putting the finishing touches on their car the day before the first race. When they weighed it, it was 1kg over the limit. The engineers stayed up all night sanding the white paint off down to bare metal. Since then, German cars have been silver.

I like the way whoever scanned in those pictures blanked out the registration numbers. Maybe the one in the movie was brown (but that would be just wrong). Is either of us obsessive enough to rent the movie and check?

And have we hijacked this thread enough, you think?

I can’t believe no one has mentioned “The California Kid,” starring Martin Sheen and his 1934 Ford coupe. I mean, the car was the movie.

Hijacked? Nah, don’t worry - we’re still on-topic, albeit very peripherally

I think what we need is a second (well, third!) opinion.
Anyone, preferably a Bond-connaisseur, want to click on those two links and tell us which colour was used in TLD?

Thanks!

Great story about the paint layers on the Mercedes. Now you mention it, I think I’ve heard it before.

BTW, if you want to keep your Aston Martin, you’d BETTER erase those plates before putting a picture on the Internet. These things attract thieves, and a British reg is easily verified with the right “connections”.

I wanted to add a bit more, and spend some time looking for a webiste about racing colours. To no avail. And yes, I tried both spellings of the word “colour”

For some reason I liked the blue convertible which Robin Williams drove in Toys. It looked vaguely like a Porsche 356 but I have no idea what it was, or if it was even a production car. He also drove a nice car in Flubber. A mid 50’s Ford Galaxie convertible, I believe. And it flew too - almost as good as Doc Brown’s DeLorean. (OK, Mr. Fusion and the Flux Capacitor are nice options…)

I also liked the Jaguar which Austin Powers had.
