I didn’t find the cop’s actions acceptable. Especially under the circumstances at the hospital. I sincerely hope that type of thing isn’t repeated at the funerals. If anything, this should be an opportunity to mend fences. Better or worse the NYPD has to partner and work with de Blasio for the duration of his term. This rift has to be mended.
I hope if anything this tragedy is a wake up call. Some of the cop hate has gotten way out of hand. I’d like to see the cops scale back their militarized procedures. Get back to basic community law enforcement. The military equipment they received needs to be returned back to the defense dept or destroyed. Congress can make that happen. At the same time, the cop hate needs to stop. These men are putting their lives at risk to keep us all safe. Don’t judge the entire force based on the actions of a few bad cops. It’s time for both sides to come together and put an end to this.
Wow, not a word about the need for police to better serve minority communities. Even George Bush said he couldn’t understand why the police officers were not indicted for the death of Eric Garner, but you see the real issue as “cop hate” huh?
Look, the murderer of these two officers is a rancid piece of crap and I’m glad he is no more. But man, you continue to totally miss the real point of things.
If the “cope hate” (as you put it) is EVER going to be scaled back, the cop worship has to be scaled back as well. But hey, what are the police wiling to do to make this situation better? Nothing, as far as I can see. The cops won’t give an inch, nor will their supporters: after all, everyone else is a criminal and deserves whatever happens to them. Cops aren’t mythical heros; they’re flawed human beings, just like the rest of us.
Refusing to deal with the reality of the situation will only make the situation worse. My bet is on the situation getting worse.
I don’t understand the shooter’s logic. OTOH I’m not sure if there’s any point to trying to understand his “logic.”
Randomly targeting two cops because they share the same uniform as thousands of others is equivalent to policemen targeting African-Americans because of their skin color.
Judge people not by their color or uniform but by the content of their character.
On the other hand, I’m surprised this made the news. A spic and a chink got killed. Who the fuck cares; these two groups are even lower on the pecking order than negros.
I have absolutely no idea. I have not paid much attention to exactly what De Blasio has said. Neither am I(or any of us) capable of digging into the precise mindset of the killer in the days beforehand. I believe in personal responsibility. My natural inclination is to blame the perpetrator and only the perpatrator. Political mudslinging was used against Sarah Palin after the Giffords shooting. What is happening here is no different to that. I was against blaming Palin for Giffords. Without knowing exactly what De Blasio said im against blaming him for these killings.
This is a warning for you. This post is extremely out of line for these boards. Don’t make posts like it again, as it can be seen as trolling (which is what you’re getting a warning for) and you may get further warnings if you do.
Secondly, I don’t see any reason not to move the whole thread to the Pit as it had that sort of RO from the beginning, so there you go.
This was never intended to be a pit thread. I bent over backwards to keep my OP factual. I even linked to news of the police being physically attacked by demonstrators. Arrests have been made for those crimes. I mentioned the Mayor “threw under the NYPD” bus and that was a direct quote from the Washington Post. It was further substantiated yesterday when all the cops at the hospital turned their back to de Blasio. I couldn’t make this shit up if I wanted to.
Everything word of my OP was factual. Don’t like the facts? That’s your problem. Not mine. Like it our not the NYPD feels that they’ve been betrayed by the mayor, attacked by demonstrators and now two NYPD officers have been murdered by an assassin. Is their any doubt in anyone’s mind that he was inspired by the non-stop news coverage of the past few months? Or did he just wake up one day and decide to murder two cops?
Save your rants. I’m outta here. I’m not having my Christmas ruined by this board. See ya next year and it won’t be in this thread.
Here’s another dipshit, Patrick Lynch, President of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association. He says the Mayor has blood on his hands over these killings. This dipshittiness is held by many NYPD officers it seems.

The relationship between many in the NYPD and the Mayor has broken down. This breakdown of trust is a legitimate enough area of interest. It cant be a healthy situation for any party involved.
