Cops star in porn movie

Story

So, do you think there should be a problem with the cops doing this? Does this interfere with their jobs?

It reminds me a bit of the controversy in the 80s of the cop who appeared in Playboy and was fired.

Isn’t there a law or regulation or something about police officers appearing in any sort of movie or TV show, except public service-type announcements? Or is that just “appearing in an official capacity”?

Regardless, I don’t have any personal objection to Cops doing porn. However, I assume I am in a teensy tiny minority of the American public in that sentiment.

Wouldn’t that make shows like Cops non-existant?

Link to the Chronicle story.

The quote that sticks out for me is this one:
" ‘This is disgusting,’ was the e-mail message we got from one viewer, who sent us a copy of the Web link to the couple’s video."
If it’s so disgusting, what was that viewer doing looking at it for specific scenes with the cops? Protecting us from immorality? Tough job, but someone’s gotta do it, type of thing? Gee, thanks. I appreciate your sacrifice.

This is supposed to be the city where stereotypes are shattered and tolerance is the norm, not the exception. Apparently we still have a ways to go, even out here in weirdo-land (it still cracks me up that California is viewed that way by the rest of the country).
As the officer pointed out in the follow up article,
"It had nothing to do with the department – there was no uniform, no insignia or nothing identifying that we worked for (the city),’’ Watts said. "Nor do I see it as an immoral act, and until somebody changes the First Amendment, I’m not going to apologize for it.’’
If such a big deal hadn’t been made out of it, it probably would have died pretty quickly.

So… to become a cop… means you give up all rights to lead any life you want to…

I do remember vaguely something of this nature, with another woman, more like Playboy. All she was forced to do was not wear any official police gear, etc.

Good point. In that case, there should be a law or a regulation against it.

Are you thinking of Carol Shaya?

The regs of this type of which I’ve heard usually only address only the issue of wearing the uniform or insignia. There are separate regs dealing with allowing others to wear parts of one’s uniform. There was a mini-controversy last year with a NYC transit cop appearing on Queer Eye and letting one of the Fab 5 wear his uniform shirt, but it came to nothing. Recently a friend of mine did some figure photography and borrowed a cop friend’s uniform shirt and there was a list of ways she could and couldn’t use the shirt.

Personally I encourage the police to do porn. Especially the hot police.

Here’s all I need to think about to solve this moral dillemma:

Porn=good.

Dillemma solved.

Too bad I didn’t solve my spelling dilemma… :smack:

I believe that is actually the case in many locales. Tobacco consumption, alcohol consumption, certain entertainment venues, etc. are “no nos.”

It’s a similar situation in the military, where your personal life was constrained to a degree.

Most people had no issue with the constraints. Some people absolutely freaked out over them.

It all worked back to the phrase, “maintenance of good order and discipline.” I think we all can appreciate the consequences of what can happen when this breaks down, in a military or paramilitary situation.

Yep, that’s funny. That’s not exactly the kind of thing you just run across. I’d think you’d have to be doing some pretty specific searching to find something like that.

Cite?

so would a well known bukake porn star cum police officer have difficulties handling people that recognise them?

Sounds to me like it was someone trying to advertise, but covered it up with a sense of outrage.

Here’s a GD thread I started dealing with a sheriff department’s decision to hire only non-smokers.

OK, well, that’s one department out of the thousands in the US, addressing one of the three things you mentioned. Hardly seems like an avalanche, or even a problem.
