Copying a DVD on a computer. Are there any ways it's acceptable?

I’m treading very lightly here, as I’m hoping to avoid a banning. (An honest debate with this many qualifiers? There are more.) I’m looking at many threads talking about use of illegal drugs, but since there aren’t any links or mention of how to avoid the law in using them, they seem to pass muster. So discussion of illegal products seem to be allowed as long as we don’t post anything about actually using them, or how to use them.

Now let’s get to my point for debate.
