A guy at work was telling me he is getting a cornea transplant for his eye.
Where do these come from? If they come from dead people is there a shelf life?
Will any cornea work, or do you need to have the same blood type of the donor?

They come from dead people (famously, murderer Gary Gilmour donated his corneas after he was executed, but most do not come from convicted felons), and have a short shelf-life, which makes finding a match tricky. Artificial corneas have been tried, but are not in widespread use.
