Corned beef hash

I LOVE HASH… My favorite breakfast meat is Hash, but it has to be prepared correctly: Grilled until it just starts to turn crispy, but still has a bit of juice to it. As a hash connoseur, I must admit there is nothing worse than hash that is either burnt beyond recognition, or else merely “heated up” and not really grilled properly…

For a while, I subsisted mostly on Velveta Shells and Cheesed mixed with 1 small can of Hash. A fine meal, if you ask me. My GF (now wife) thinks it is the most disgusting thing to eat other than dog shit, but I certainly like it…

The only time I tried to make corned beef hash I ended up using 2 teaspoons of Thyme in a meal meant for four people. I don’t even know where I got the idea that I needed thyme and I sure don’t know why I put in 2 teaspoons of the stuff. Let’s just say that even the dogs wouldn’t eat it. Ever since I’ve had an aversion to corned beef hash and thyme.
I learned an important lesson about cooking. Always spice in moderation it’s a hellava lot easier to add spice than to remove it.

I would have to admit to loving corned beef and hash as well. I’ll take it anyway you’ve got it. Put in some scrambled eggs and a good amount of pepper and I’m eating like a king.

We’ve got a diner that is open 24hrs in the small town I volunteer in as an EMT/FF and if we get a call after 3:30 it is hash time there after

Soooooo bad for you. Soooooo good…

Add corn to it while cooking. Excellent!

Now that is a good meal! BTW, have you ever taken chicken ramen (drain all water, just add seasoning to the cooked noodles) and mixed it with the Shells and Cheese? Mmmm mmmm good!

Shells & Cheese is the philosopher’s stone of college cuisine; it turns a can of practically anything into a fine meal: green beans, Rotel, hash, you name it. I’d almost be willing to bet it would make Alpo palatable.

Back to the subject of the OP:
I am a lucky man. I have a girlfriend who can make fine homestyle CBH from scratch.

mmmmmmmm, corned beef hash
/Homer mode OFF

CBH is a big fave.

I don’t mind the canned, but I have to heat it up first.

I had corned beef hash with a poached egg for lunch the day before the LSAT.

I’ll let you guys know if it helped. It was damned good, though. I’ve always been a fan, even of the cheap-ass stuff out of the can. Hell, I’m craving it now after reading this thread, and I’m not even feeling well right now.

I love the stuff. But then, as vanilla will tell you, I like lots of different foods. Hmmm, now I’m in the mood for corned beef.

Forget it Snark, I’m giving you tofu surprise…

Is this our first argument, vanilla? No WAY am I eating tofu!!

(only 4 posts behind snark)
Not only tofu, but tofu AND sprouts!

Sprouts are okay by me. Tofu suprise? The surprise is, I’m going to McDonald’s to eat!

McDonalds eh? And you don’t like tofu? Hmmm, ya need to get your taste buds examined dear, now open your mouth and say ahhhhh…

AhhhhhhhhhhhhIIIIIII’m not eating tofu!

Hello everyone and Welcome to the snark & vanilla thread!

You snuck tofu into the lasagna? No wonder I didn’t taste it. ;p

Okay, get your votes in now: corned beef hash or tofu?
You make the call.

Corned beef hash, succulent, salty, satisfying, sinfully-delicious;

versus

Tofu. The word itself is boring and unappetizing.

Can there be any easier choice?
