Cornel West, "Justice is what love looks like in public": Source?

This quotation is almost universally attributed to Cornel West. Can anyone supply an authoritative source for it? A speech, a book, anything?

Thanks!

He said it in an interview at least.

Shuster: There are some African-American opinion leaders who say that you, Dr. Cornel West, are damaging your own legacy by being so scathing in your criticism of President Obama. What have you gained by this?

West: I’m not worried about my legacy. These things are transient and contingent. When they talk about legacy, they’re talking about what the establishment figures have to say about you. I don’t give a damn what they have to say about me. I’m being true to what my mother and father put inside of me. It’s a sense of trying to love everybody, and justice is what love looks like in public, just like tenderness is what love feels like in private. And that’s what I’m committed to.

Thanks!

Thank you.

So Cornel West is running for President now among the other candidates. He has no chance of getting traction but I like how he reaches out to people. He was doing a commentary-like interview on CNN and the host said ‘what do you think of Trump’s moral character?’ Cornel responded to the host that he was praying for Trump’s soul. The host was chortling from relief because he thought Cornel would say something mean but he was warm instead. I should cone up with the name of the host, mmm the guy who’s the son or nephew of the old Washington Post publisher.

Anderson Cooper. D’uh!

I love the other candidates too though their views are so spread out. I like their willingness to expend time, resources, their wellbeing, their families’ patience in running for office. Whether people like Christie, Pence, West in this election or others like Perot, Sanders, Cruz - I got some admiration for them.
