A judge has ordered a guy to get vaccinated or he won’t get probation. He says he won’t do it.
Another ominous development is that the UK, which had experienced a sudden decline in COVID cases after its Delta wave, has now started to swing upward again, most likely a direct result of their policy of reopening. It’s beginning to look like Boris Johnson didn’t win the reopening bet after all.
So now both AEG and Live Nation will require vaccination to attend one of their shows. Those are two of the biggest, maybe THE two biggest, concert promoters in the US.

Fingers crossed that this one takes. As I recall, you are a transplantee? I understand the anti-rejection drugs can cause all sorts of issues.
oops!
Yep, kidney transplant.
Luckily, so far it’s been relatively smooth sailing. I just want to believe I may gain anti-bodies against this stupid virus.
My medical provider is not allowing appointments for the third vaccine yet; however, the local grocery store is. My appointment is for Wednesday morning.
Best of luck to you, @MissTake.
Here’s some news:
I can already hear people thinking “160 out of 25,000 isn’t too bad…”
That’s twice the rate of Lollapalooza so far. Plus, 75% of those infections were unvaccinated people even though the vaccination rate was estimated to be 90%. I suspect that the Watershed Music Festival had a lower vaccination rate.
Never mind, just got back from getting the booster. The person administrating it said they’ve been busy all day with people like me.
Didn’t wait the twenty minutes, though. Started to, then a very chatty unmasked man sat down next to me.
From the Irony News Desk:
…
The cardinal has expressed skepticism about the need for social distancing measures and spoke out against mandatory vaccinations in May 2020, according to the National Catholic Reporter. “It must be clear that vaccination itself cannot be imposed, in a totalitarian manner, on citizens,” he said at the time.Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke, a former archbishop of St. Louis, has been hospitalized with COVID-19 and placed on a ventilator.
Burke has also referenced conspiracy theories about vaccines: one about microchips and another that claimed the vaccines were created using aborted fetal cells.
He has repeated false claims suggesting vaccines may inject microchips that allow recipients to “be controlled by the State regarding health and about other matters which we can only imagine” and also said that “it is never morally justified to develop a vaccine through the use of the cell lines of aborted fetuses.”
…
Even if you believe the vaccine is full of microchips made out of aborted babies, I don’t understand the objection to distancing when you’re dealing with a communicable respiratory disease.
And more irony: a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church objects to people being controlled by the state.
Breaking news:
Was not expecting this.
WASHINGTON — The Biden administration has decided that most Americans should get a coronavirus booster shot eight months after they completed their initial vaccination, and could begin offering the extra shots as early as mid-September, according to two administration officials familiar with the discussions.
Officials are planning to announce the administration’s decision as early as this week. Their goal is to let Americans know now that they will need additional protection against the Delta variant that is causing surging caseloads across the nation.
The first boosters are likely to go to nursing home residents and health care workers, followed by other older people who were near the front of the line when vaccinations began late last year. Officials envision giving people the same vaccine they originally received.
Among other worrisome signals, Biden administration officials are particularly concerned about data from Israel suggesting that the Pfizer-BioNTech’s protection against severe disease has fallen significantly for elderly people who were vaccinated in January or February.
…
FTR, I’m old and I was vaccinated in February.
I’m not as old, was vaccinated a month later and now have Delta. I wonder if I should get a third shot, I don’t want to take more than my share when so many other people still don’t have access to the first shot.
Consider how many doses have expired because nobody wanted them. Take the shot.
Those doses aren’t going to leave the US. You may as well take it.
That’s good, but what I’m really waiting for is approval for younger kids. My son is 11 — his birthday is in December. He went back to in-person school last week. Only 4 days of school so far and already we have two notifications of positive COVID at his school. This will be the longest 4 months of my life.
I can’t imagine how stressful this must be for parents.
