Corporate greed gobbles up yet another good one.

Peet’s coffee, which spawned the giant Starbucks, is going the way of that spawn.
You can now buy Peet’s in many supermarkets. It’s even available, pre-ground and stale, at the coffee station in our lunchrooms at work. Even there it’s still preferred over Starbuck’s offerings, but that can’t keep up for long.
Supply can’t keep with Mr. Peet’s (who died recently) picky standards. I can see that decline in Peet’s stores around here.
Anyone who’s savored the offerings at the Peet’s on Vine here in Berkeley knows what I mean.
Boo! :frowning:
I still have my roaster. But still.
Evidence
BTW; You can still order a superior coffee at that site. Better than Starbuck’s. I will cop to that much.

How about that! I live a block away, and I never even knew the significance of the store on Vine.

I started really appreciating Peet’s recently: my last place of employment was heavy into coffee, only bought beans from Peet’s, and I learned to love the roasts - and the strength of their brew. Everything else tastes like thin, bitter water now, and it’s sad to see Peet’s treading the same path as others.
