Cortisone to the wrist

I’d bet it’s placebo.

And bees have hives. People have urticaria. Unless they have bees. Then they can have hives. But if they have bees they’re allergic to, they can have urticaria too.

My wrist was actually was quite a lot better today – the pain is much lessened, its almost back to where it was a couple of weeks ago. Maybe.

I saw the orthopedic guy today. He looked at the fresh x-rays of my hand/wrist/arm, and declared my joints and wrist and finger in good shape, no obvious injury, no problems with the joints, no evidence of arthritis or other problems. He did Finklestein’s test, and declared it DeQuervain’s syndrome. He told me to keep taking Ibuprofen 6-800mg several times a day, and go back to therapy. He didn’t think I needed the cortisone shot in my arm (which I had mixed feelings about having done), just keep up the anti-inflammatories and it should heal on its own. He was really positive this wouldn’t be a chronic problem in the long run.

What I didn’t push him on, and should have, is that this has been going 2 1/2 months, so how much more time should I or would I need to live with this? What happens if therapy makes it worse again? Or at least not better?

I guess its back to therapy. The difference is that I’m not taking bucketloads of Ibuprofen now, so maybe things will go better, now that the fire is, if not “out”, lessened. Shrug.

On re-read, I see I meant to say: “The difference is that I’m now taking bucketloads of Ibuprofen”
