Cosmetics and You

I wear it when we’re dressing up for something, or the notion strikes. It works out to something like three or four times a year, usually.

I voted “sometimes.” I wear makeup if I go out anywhere. But when I stay home, I don’t.

I said sometimes. About 3-4 times a week. I don’t wear that many products – in addition to moisturizer/toner, I just wear foundation, eyeliner, and lip gloss. Very occasionally mascara.

I voted sometimes because I’m definitely not wearing makeup to clean the house. I’ll wear foundation at work - I have to because my skin sucks. I might put on lipstick as well and once in a while will do mascara. I look stupid in any other eye makeup (and yes I know how to put it on). With the way my complexion is I don’t need blush.

I wear “full face” to work. (I bartend.) That includes eyshadow, liner, mascara, foundation, blush, and lip gloss. If I’m off and running to the store I may or may not dab some concealer under my eyes to make me look a little less sleepy. If I don’t go anywhere i don’t even look at my makeup bag. Mr. Levins knows what I look like with/without makeup and I don’t see the point of going to that much trouble. I feel like I look better, and and I feel more confident, when I have “full face” makeup on…but it’s also time consuming to always worry about what I look like so I like skipping makeup when I can.

I almost never wear makeup these days. I did when I was younger, and I used to have zits all the time, too.

I had my upper teeth removed a couple of years ago, and I looked like the poster girl for domestic abuse right after the surgery. I had two extremely swollen black eyes, and bruises all over my face from the eyes down. My husband said that he was scared to be seen in public with my. The oral surgeon told me that he was going to have to get me to come around the back door, and he’d stash me in a treatment room, so I didn’t scare off his other patients. I got some face powder and liquid foundation, and wore that when I went out. It helped some, but the only thing that really helped was time. And I did notice an increase in zits.

I’m in a phase now where I usually wear mascara, a tiny bit of eye shadow, and gloss. Unless I don’t feel like it. Occasionally, I go all out (for me, that’s foundation, blush, eye shadow, liner, mascara (one of the ridiculous kinds), lip liner, and lipstick.) And MAC has my number. Even when I’ve been in phases where I almost never wear makeup, MAC has my number.

A small amount on me, makes me look more “finished.”

I wear makeup (lipstick, eye shadow, mascara, maybe blush) if I’m dressing up for a party or other special occasion, but otherwise I prefer not to. It’s just too much effort for everyday life.

If I’m going outside the house, I’ll do a bit of makeup. Except when I’m in a ‘can’t be arsed’ mood.

  • Eyebrow pencil
  • Lip gloss
  • Eyeliner (if I’m feeling like the extra effort)

Full-face makeup occurs for weddings and black tie events (mineral makeup foundation, blush, and shadow in addition to the usual).

I generally do more often than not. I NEVER leave the house without make-up, but around the house, it depends. Some days I feel like putting on make-up, some days I don’t.

I like wearing make-up, and I like doing my nails and stuff. I’ve always been a girly-girl. (Although around here sometimes it seems to be frowned upon)
I need to GET some new make-up. I’m almost out of blush, and lipstick. I could also use some new nail polish.

I don’t wear if very often, certainly not to work because I’m usually dashing out the door with only seconds to spare.

I like the way makeup makes me look (less tired and happier) but I’m not very good at applying it. I used to wear it all the time when I was younger but got right out of the habit and restarted just with lipstick and mascara so the application of foundation, concealer etc is still a bit difficult for me.

I never wear the face covering stuff, concealer or foundation or powder or whatever.

Occasionally, I wear eyeliner, mascara and lip stuff, maybe once a month.

I do a full make-up to leave the house 95% of the time. Always to work, and just about anywhere else other than a past-sunset run to Walmart. Primer, concealer, foundation, eye-shadow, eye-liner, mascara, brow powder, brow gel, blush, and lip gloss. If I’m going out, I add the latest product I’ve aquired, lash-laquer. (Great stuff, btw, but tricky to put on). I’m pretty skilled at it, so all of that takes me ten minutes, tops.

Sometimes. I love makeup but rarely bother to wear it, because I’m lazy. I like throwing on a bit of long-wearing lipstick (Maybelline Super Stay 24 and L’Oreal Infalliable Lipcolor are just awesome) and some blush, plus a little anti-shine powder (MAC’s Blot Powder). I’d like to do more with eyeliner but need help, I think. I’ve bought a couple “gel” eyeliners but both were the consistency of spackle, and I don’t know how that’s supposed to apply cleanly.

I don’t think that I need it, but I think that well-applied, it improves my look. It’s an accessory.

I wear a little, but not if I’m just hanging around the house or running errands.
I use a little foundation just to even things out, and a swipe of sheer blusher, mascara and a little eyeliner. I hate lipstick, however; and use tinted lip balm instead. Takes two or three minutes at the most.

Lipstick always looks so weird on me. I’ve never been able to get it right. There was a scene on Scrubs where Elliott is getting ready for a date and asks Dr. Cox about her lipstick.
Elliott: Dr. Cox, does this lipstick make me look like a hooker?
Dr. Cox: No, it makes you look like a clown who caters exclusively to hookers.
Yeah, that’s me.

Eyebrow gel? I’ve never heard of that. WTH? We have to use makeup on our eyebrows now?

Rarely, with the occasional exception of some eye liner/shadow/mascara and lipstick. It’s been years since I’ve worn foundation - I don’t like the way it feels on my skin. I don’t need to be made up for work.

I keep my feet and toenails pedicured, though. Always wear polish on my toenails. For Christmas, I’ll do alternating red and green toes, or baby blue and pink nails for easter.

Always, every day:
Moisturizing sunscreen
lipstick

For the office:
Same as above, plus powder, mascara and sometimes light, subtle eyeshadow.

I am middle-aged and very plain, so I have to wear *some *makeup, but wearing too much would be disastrous.

I’d have to go with almost always.

For a regular workday, you get:
a light moisturizing foundation with sunscreen to even my skin tone
powder
mascara
lipgloss

If the day’s really important you get eyeliner too.

If I’m not leaving the house, then I won’t use anything. If I have to go somewhere on the weekend, I’ll usually just do a light dusting of powder. Sometimes I won’t even do that.

I didn’t wear it for a long time, and then started to wear it and I was surprised by how much difference just a little foundation and blush can make. All it does is even out the colors in your face. So now I wear it daily.

Lipstick, only occasionally. I really don’t see the point. Every time I eat or drink I have to reapply it? Yeah that makes no sense to me.

About once every 6 months or so I decide I’m going to wear makeup again. I manage to do so for a couple of days, sometimes even a week before I decide sleeping an extra 5 mins is worth more to me.

I do wear a lightly tinted moisturizer with SPF 30 every day though. I have roseacea and it helps even out the blotchyness and since I would wear sunscreen anyway it’s not an extra step.
