I don't wear makeup - anyone else?

No, I don’t want to hear from men who don’t wear makeup.

This topic was inspired by Princess’ Mary Kay one. I’m 31, have never worn more than mascara and that was way back in high school. My dad said it made me look cheap and my brother teased me about it. My husband thinks I look best au naturel, but sometimes I feel like a freak. When I have tried to wear it I just don’t look like me; makeup covers up my freckles.

Uh oh…good thing Flora’s out of town.

I used to be downright religious about wearing makeup. I wouldn’t step foot out my door, even to check my mail, unless my hair and makeup were done. Nowadays, I only wear makeup if I’m going out someplace nice (grocery store doesn’t count, hell I barely get dressed to go shopping). The last time I styled my hair was my wedding, six months ago. My hair is in a permanent ponytail style because it only takes about 30 seconds to brush it, pull it back and put it in a ponytail holder. My husband is kind of the same way. He likes it when I look more natural because when I’m wearing makeup and he kisses me on the lips or the cheek, he complains about the taste of the makeup.

This has come up before, but I couldn’t find it when I searched. I rarely wear makeup. the only times I definately wear it is to make me look older when I teach computer classes. I’m quite happy with the way I look, and even when I DO wear it it’s only mascara. I truely believe that staying away from makeup keeps your skin from getting wrinkled (less tugging on the skin and eye area).

I started wearing make-up at about 11.(white lipstick!) and still wear it because it Does make me look better. Its not like I am naturally beautiful,my skin isn’t perfect,if it was,I wouldn’t wear foundation.

I wear a bit of blush most of the time and once in a while mascara… Im pretty much the au naturel type but some days I look pale… otherwise I dont think I look too bad without it.

I am me… accept it or not.

My wife rarely does. She absolutely looks better without it. Not that I had anything to do with that, it goes back to before when we started dating. She might throw on some minor things if she has a big presentation at work, but otherwise it;s the natural look with the ponytail (which is fine by me, because that’s a heck of a good look for her.)

Well, shut my mouth. It’s also illegal to put squirrels down your pants for the purposes of gambling.

I wear make-up…and lots of it… what else would you expect out of a 43 yo crackwhore!

All right Uke, I bite. What would Flora think of this topic?

I’ve worn makeup twice in the past year – on October 29 and October 31.

I haven’t lost my virginity. I remember exactly where I left it.

Okay Fret, I bite. Why those two specific dates?

I haven’t worn makeup in a couple of years, since I appeared as the title character of Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Mikado with the Deep Ellum Opera Theater back in 1994.

when I agreed to do the role, I didn’t realize that my first break in show biz would result in me saying something I never thought I’d say: “Has anyone seen my eyeliner?”

Damn, and I so wanted to tell about my new mascara!

oh yeah, and not to answer for Fret or anything, but I’m guessing it was for Halloween

Okay…looks like I’m going to buck the trend here. I wear makeup every day during the week. The whole bit - foundation, blush, powder, eyeliner, shadow, mascara, and lipstick. It’s natural looking, and takes me 7 minutes to put on. Weekends I wear it if I’m going out somewhere, but most of the time I go without. And then think my face looks terrible because of the lupus rash and acne scars. :frowning:

Yo Imthecowgodmoo, try reading the OP again - this sentence, specifically:

Men who do wear makeup are perfectly welcome to share.

Ugh, I hate makeup. I’ll wear lipstick if I’m going to a fancy occasion but otherwise, no way. The thought of putting that lard on my face makes me sick to my stomach.

I think people who wear tons of makeup look hideous. Ghastly. Horrifying. And I have no patience for my friends who are addicted to makeup and take about 45 minutes to get ready to go outside. I certainly don’t wait around for makeup.

Good topic, btw.

Since the cats and dogs don’t really care how I look, I skip the makeup most of the time. I put it on when I go out at night, which is not that often. My hair is usually up in a clip. I like the way makeup brings out my eyes though. I have my mother’s Japanese eyes and sparse lashes. Makeup makes my eyes appear deeper and mascara brings out my lashes. I’m also fond of very dark red lipstick.

I crave an art that passionately transcends the mundane instead of being a device for self-deception.–Griffin, from The Griffin and Sabine trilogy.

I usually only wear makeup if we’re going out to a club. Sometimes I’ll wear it for the hell of it.
I generally stick to shadow, mascara, eyeliner and lipstick. If I REALLY want to freak my friends out, I do the foundation/blush/etc. look (since I rarely wear makeup, people freak out because it makes such a dramatic difference).

I’m never gonna have a career as a makeup artist. I use magazines to design my ‘face’ LOL. How come I can never get it to look the same, though??

Mom always said there’d be days like this…she just never said there’d be so MANY of them!!!

I don’t wear makeup, and even when I get older, I don’t see myself wearing it on a daily basis. But, I could see myself wearing some–once I figure out how to put the damn stuff on. Right now, I’ve got a thing of foundation, a lipstick, and a eyeliner. Eyeliner–eep. Lipstick–I can put it on, but I’m horrible at picking colors, so I avoid it. Foundation, I use as a concealer (all nighter eye circles), so it’s not really the best application.

I want to learn how to choose and wear eyeshadow, since a friend did my eyes once, and I was told I looked 25. At 17, and looking 15, this is a good thing.

But even if I mastered the art of makeup, I doubt I’d wear it daily. I just don’t want to make an effort.
