I don't wear makeup - anyone else?

I very seldom wear make up. If I am going someplace and feeling unsure of myself ( which I often do ) I will wear it to try to make a good impression. But if I am going to be with friends, family or just people I am not afraid will reject me because of my looks I don’t wear it.

I know you wouldn’t think from my posts that I am insecure, but I really am.

I wear makeup on rare occassions. Like… a few times a year. But then, I don’t always even brush my hair. Right now I can’t find my brush, for example. The dog probably ate it… he has eaten a lot of them. It sucks.

When I do wear makeup though, I often do it to look DIFFERENT from the way I look without it. Yeah, I can do the “natural look” and enhance my features, but it isn’t as fun.

I used to wear eyeliner for a year or two (not everyday, usually when I went out), and you know, I think I can apply better than most of the gals I see wearing it.

I think I look better in eyeliner, but haven’t worn it for about a decade, now. If anybody needs tips, I’ll try and figure out if I can put directions into print, otherwise if you make it over here, I’ll certainly demonstrate.

I don’t usually wear makeup. Not to brag or anything (yeah, right), my complexion is not bad at all, and my lips have a very good color naturally. I have people ask me what shade lipstick I’m wearing, when I’m not wearing any. Also, my eyelashes don’t usually need mascara. If I do wear makeup, usually it’s just foundation, powder, and dark-colored lipstick. No rouge- I like to go for a more pale, Gothic look, and my complexion is rather sanguine ro begin with. I never did master the art of eyeliner. I don’t usually paint my nails, either.

Rubes… I’d love some advice on eyeliner!! I never CAN get it right…

Mom always said there’d be days like this…she just never said there’d be so MANY of them!!!

I wear makeup almost everyday. I have a very pale complexion and need that little bit of color to liven my face up. I wear foundation, powder, blush, eyeliner, and lipstick. I put on just enough to give my face some color wash it off once I get home from work. On weekends I don’t wear quite as much, just a little eyeliner and blush. Some women look really good without makeup and some women look really good with makeup. It’s just your own personal preference.

Andrea, Send me an email, and I’ll send you some directions. I’m going to have to include diagrams, just to help me out.

I own a lot of make up, but I rarely ever put it on. I’ll wear it when I’m going out (as in: to have fun, not to check the mail) or if, for some weird reason, I just feel like it. It’s not a big thing for me because the only person who ever sees me is Bowen and he couldn’t care less. (Toddlers are funny that way.)

When I wear it, though, I’m proud to say that I have my technique down to a science and I look great.

I wear makeup when I’m working and generally don’t if I’m not (except if I have a date).

My job requires me to look pretty pulled-together and professional, and I think make-up makes me look more polished. I also think it makes me look a little more “adult” – I won’t say older since at 30 I’m no longer interested in looking older – which is helpful as I am fairly young for the job I do and want to be taken seriously. I don’t wear a ton of it, though; powder-foundation, soft eye-liner and neutral eye shadow and lipstick.

On the weekends, I don’t usually bother, plus I like to give my skin a break. (I don’t wear my contacts on the weekends to give my eyes a break, so it’s entirely possible my week-end look is “geek-hideous.”)

Don’t wear any. Got out of the habit in the military. Tried to get back into it when I got out but it was just such a pain. I wear eyeliner, mascara, and lipstick for the proverbial “big night out” but that’s about it.

Ironically, all this talk of NOT wearing make up has made me feel like putting some on.

I need to wear mascara if I want my eyelashes to show up (I’m a redhead) but I only bother if I’m going out, and I’ve given up on concealing the freckles. But I will put on concealer if I get a pimple.

The hair is waist-length with short bangs (Betty Page blunt cut) so styling is usually easy. Just brush it well, and go. Lately it’s been in a ponytail because the baby has been trying to pull it…yow!

If you’re not part of the solution you’re just scumming up the bottom of the beaker.

I do sometimes take care of the makeup thing by using a Sharpie (permanent marker) for eyeliner and/or lipstick.

I wear minimal makeup on work days, and only for “going out” times otherwise. I hate the feeling of gunk on my face; the first thing I do when I get home is wash my face!
The whole shebang takes 1 minute, tops: concealer around the eyes, a very light eye shadow (same color as my skin tone), a tiny line of brown eyeliner, and a wisp of mascara. Then a slight dusting of powder to mute the worst of the shine.
I’m blessed with good skin, which is damned lucky because wearing foundation, blusher, etc. makes me nuts. That and hair spray or mousse of any kind just drives me crazy.
This is purely idiocyncratic and no slam at anyone else, but makeup and hair gunk make me feel sticky and dirty and yucky. Clean hair, clean skin.

I wear eye make-up sometimes, cause I like it, especially shiny gold & orange tones. But I don’t feel incomplete without it. I never wear foundation or blush, etc. My hair is a wild tangle of red curls, and I long ago stopped any attempt at styling it.

I live in the land of the full-tilt Beauty Queen. Women here wear a faceful of make-up every time they go out. It’s a religious ritual. They even wear a faceful when out power-walking. That’s pretty eerie…

(Nice beard, Opal!)

Love the kitty face, Opal!

I wear a bit of makeup most days since my eyes are deep-set and my complexion pale – brown and green eyeshadow, gray eyeliner and a bit of powder so my sunscreen doesn’t make my face shiny. No lipstick. Takes about two minutes to do.

I used to wear a ton of makeup and had a lot of fun with it when I was younger, but now I find a lot of makeup is aging on me.

Makeup should enhanse beauty, not cover it up. Every woman I’ve ever been with looked best to me in the morning anyway.

Whenever I see someone who uses a spackling knife to put on a base and has hair which has become a solid object from hair spray, I think, why arwe you going to so much effort to make yourself look like a circus clown?

Yer pal,
Satan

Satan- “spackling knife”- Hoo!

Stick a toothpick in to see if it’s “done”!

I wear mascara and blush everyday. My eyelashes are blonde and long but I look weird without mascara. I probably should wear foundation, the only time I do is if I am going out (which is not that often.) Then I will add some light tan eye shadow and once in a while some eyeliner.

Personally, I think some women could use some, while others need to get over the Tammy Faye Baker look.

Like someone else said, it’s meant to enhance a woman’s beauty not cover her up.

Oh God, I’m so envious of you gals who don’t need to bother with makeup – I HATE the morning makeup routine…but I need it. I’m blonde & very pale and my skin appears blotchy without foundation; pale & sparse lashes & eyebrows, thin lips. I use foundation, eyeliner (liquid liner only on the upper lash line), eyebrow pencil, which I also use on the lower lash line & smudge it a bit to look more natural, mascara, and lipstick. I have no trouble with the eyeliner, but I could use some advice on the lipstick! I’ve tried lip liner (a darker shade than the lipstick), and it helps a lot, but it wears off unevenly and I end up with partially lined lips - it looked goofy, so I gave up on the lipliner - any hints?
