When he was in his ring gear as he/Trips waited outside for HBK to show up, I was cracking up.
I was prepared to loathe the Eugene character but I’m liking it so far. Regal is a huge help of course - no one else can pull off the disgusted facial expressions like he can.
Speaking of disgusting, I hate the Kane/Lita storyline. Even if it brings Jeff Hardy back somehow, I’ve had to watch Lita try to act and I demand compensation.
I’d like to see Paul Heyman back as GM of Smackdown again. He has a way of making things exciting. He’s got the bugeyes, the voice that’s constantly screaming, and the body language that makes the whole show worth watching. He had that effect on ECW, and he should get it back for Smackdown.
John Cena’s gotten boring since Heyman stepped down. He could have become the next Steve Austin, but now he’s a cartoon character. I thought the episode where he made Heyman eat soap was the funniest thing I had seen in years, but now he’s yesterday’s news. Too bad, it had the potential to top the McMahon/Austin feud.
It seems like WWE is only going to cultivate talent from its farm team, OVW. Too bad. I think they should get some guys from the indies. They need to get more Mick Foley types that are ugly, scarred up and don’t mind spitting out a few teeth every now and then. Nowadays, they got too many guys with perfect bodies who all look alike. Wasn’t Mark Jindrak one of the French guys? I can’t tell!
No, Jindrak actually goes back to the latter days of WCW, where he was teamed with the excellent Sean O’Haire (who was let go from WWE some months back). The French guys on La Resistance on Raw are Sylvan Grenier, Rob Conway, and Rene Dupree, who was transferred to Smackdown, where he is much better on his own as a heel. Now Grenier and Conway are Quebecois heels on Raw. But I totally understand your complaint. Vince McMahon just likes pushing big, handsome, musclebound guys, whether or not they have any charisma or in-ring talent.
