Could my state gov't get any more stupid?

My long form birth certificate does not name my biological parents. It names my adoptive parents..

Plus, I think the main things to take away from this story are:

  1. Kansas needs to get with the times and realize not every child is born into an old fashioned ‘Ozzie and Harriet’ family.
  2. Avoid Craigslist ads looking for sperm donors.

Really? Did they know who your biological parents were?

Recipients as well.

My daughter’s birth certificate had a blank for the father until my husband adopted her (different men). I don’t recall how exactly the conversation about the birth certificate went after she was born, but I know it wasn’t any big deal.

I know who the father is, without question. And even though I was 19 with a low-end job, I never asked for any support. I didn’t need nor want him in my daughter’s life.

Didn’t you know? Everyone has the right to have babies whether they can afford them or not!

Bumping this old thread to note that a Kansas court has sided with the state, ruling that the man in question is liable for child support. The court found that he and the couple had not followed state law setting forth the procedures required for such a donation. An appeal is expected.

I’m assuming that the statement that he donated “three cupfuls” is not meant to be taken too literally. Then again, maybe that’s why his hair has turned gray.
