Could the right makeup make this young woman more attractive or not?

the difference between this and the supposed comments on the appearance of John Boehner and Mitch McConnell is that people set out to say something insulting about them for various reasons, and grabbed their appearance as the vehicle. This was just a swipe at a woman for not doing what men think she’s supposed to do.

Not always. I never really had a problem with Boehner (at least not beyond those I’d have with any Republican) but his coloring really freaked me out.

I was immunized by watching the 1971 Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory.

You DO know why this particular person is in the news, don’t you?

I think it needs to be pointed out that both members here and the media in general (by using unflattering pics) are viewing her looks as being less than stellar because she is daring to question the sacredness of affirmative action, which is like questioning the validity of global warming.

Affirmative action is, and always was, nothing more than govt sectioned discrimination. And while it had practical and noble roots in its creation its expiration date is *loooooong *since past. The only reasons it can’t be ended (or even lessened) is once you start giving people something they didn’t earn they will ***never ***stop asking for it. And because it is one of the tent-pole issues underlying political correctness and liberal white guilt.

It didn’t. But thanks anyway.

It’s the sense that you have some kind of stake in how she presents herself that is problematic.

Think about an 80 year old woman. Some take care to wear tailored clothes and put on makeup. Some stopped doing that long ago.

When you meet a random 80 year old woman, you probably aren’t putting a lot of thought into which type she is. Both are equally valid. You may think “Wow, Mabel is stating to show her age”, but you aren’t sitting around thinking “Gee, Mavis really should put on some lipstick.” You don’t feel like you have a stake in it.

But when a young woman chooses not to focus on beauty, this isn’t seen as just a neutral personal choice like it is for everyone else. It’s seen as a kind of public act, open to public discussion and troubleshooting.

Her face is rotund and masculine. Could makeup fix that, I don’t know.

I once saw a YouTube video where a. Woman whose face was a 4 manages to change it to an 8 with makeup. It was amazing, she even somehow changed her jaw appearance, don’t ask me how.

Anyway, probably but not by a lot.

So she’s suing because of race-based AA but she was trying get in to UT as a legacy student? If this is true, it’s not her looks that make her deserving of mockery.

I agree that she does look more masculine than feminine. Make-up might help, but not much I’m afraid.

Her biggest problem is that she’s rather reminiscent of a young Mickey Rooney in drag. There’s no sugar-coating the fact that she’s not good looking at all.

That said, hair and makeup’s generally good for 1-2 points on the ten point beauty scale, so why not go for it? It’s unlikely to make her look worse.

I could not disagree with her more, politically, but a private individual should be able to file a law-suit without becoming a public figure. It’s not the same as running for office, or for going into entertainment.

It is a combination of things.

She is out of shape (mostly lacking muscle tone) and wearing clothes that either accentuate that or are too dowdy. She needs a good cut and style instead of her current 12 year old Catholic school girl style hair and her eyebrows need professional shaping. Complete lack of style.

If I were her, I would look into a brow lift (cheap and recovery is just a few days), chin/jaw work and a nose job. Just a little work could really transform her face.

As long as we’re playing Who does she remind you of, I’m seeing a mixture of Ron Weasley, Chelsea Clinton, and a Partridge Family-era Danny Bonaduce.

Why don’t you recommend spleen removal and appendectomy while you’re at it?

Seriously, your reaction to seeing a woman a bit on the plain side is to recommend surgery? WTF?

I agree with Broomstick, WTF? I’d be annoyed if someone told me I should wear more makeup, but I’d go a bit mental if they recommended that I should have surgery.

Women are decoration, don’t’cha know.

Yeah but lets not talk about that. Lets talk about how she needs to get fixed, either through make-up or surgery, so that astro can get a boner.

Why some women get their ribs removed to attain a certain aesthetic:
