could use some help coming up with fun, offbeat discussion-topics for a weekly office staff-meeting

Yeah, what does being introverted have to do with hating to waste time? Like most people, I’m both an extrovert and an introvert, but considering most people use extrovert to mean “social,” there aren’t a lot of people more social than I am. I talk too damn much (anyone who’s met me can attest) and I like hanging out with people, but I hate bullshit meetings and I hate forced corporate fun. 98% of meetings could have been avoided with an e-mail anyway, then to throw in an extra wacky getting-to-know-you game just grates. Can we please wrap it up?

  1. Eat, if stuck in an elevator with the team and forced to resort to cannibalism to survive.

I have to agree with MeanOldLady - the issue is being forced to do something that wastes time (particularly in an environment where employees are punished for not making benchmarks or deadlines). Per the OP the employees already have a disinclination to participate. Their lack of interest has been taken as a sign that they must now be forced to have fun per management instructions.

Since you know me, you know I’m the furthest thing from an introvert. I constantly seek company and chatter – hell, I can barely stand to be alone, in fact. I’ve made some if my best friends at work. That doesn’t mean I want to participate in some eye rolling quiz show when I have shit to do.

What kind of superpower would you want?

Which office supplies are easiest to steal?

What would you rather fight, a 100 duck-sized horses, or 1 horse-sized duck?

If you were stuck on a deserted island with the people in this room, who would be the first and last to be eaten?

Would you sleep overnight alone in a haunted house for a million dollars?

If you had to pick, how would you commit suicide?

What’s the weirdest food you’ve ever eaten?

If you were changed into the opposite sex for a day (and no one recognized you), what would you do for that day?

Yea, if you want to waste my time, please make the game “who can end this stupid nonfun activity the fastest”

Can you find nothing work-related to share in this time? Have the designated person give a 5 minute update on their current project, or on a company initiative, or on the competition, or a new technique. Something relevant to the team.

Otherwise, yeah, set your people free.
