Could you once buy a quart or so of soda in a wax carton from takeout?

You would get wet and sticky ---- and not in a fun way.

Before the milk carton-style containers, take-out root beer came in these cone-shaped containers.

I remember those now.

The original “extra large” drink.

Nowadays, every fast-food place sells that size.

It’s called ‘medium’.

Which is the smallest size they have.

Thank you! It works better when someone else posts it as a follow-up.

Bump–That’s it! I owe you…half a Coke. And some pizza. Hope you like mushrooms.

As mentioned in Post #6. I remember those from my yoot.

Exactly these, yes. I used to get them from Dominos when I was in college in the late 80s.

It’s been since when… 1988 that I last saw one of those? My memory was a bit hazy on whether they were exactly like that, or slightly different. Plus, the ones I recall were Pepsi, so that may be throwing me off.

Several local chains in south Texas did this; back in the early seventies, it was the only way I knew of to get a serving of Coke that was bigger than twelve ounces…

Exactly. In the case of A&W, it wouldn’t have been hanging around long enough to need storing. Oh boy, that root beer was good.

Essentially a small, disposable soda growler, if you think about it.
