Couldn't we simply increase immigration to save Social Security?

Everyone says that Social Security is doomed mostly because we will have so many more retired than working (our population is aging). Couldn’t we simply let more immigrents in (who tend to be younger) to make up for the short fall in babies being born?

That would work for a while. It would not solve the problem in the long run, however, because in 40 years, you have that many more people who need Social Security, and you can’t increase the population to deal with it forever.

As long as it works long enough for me to get mine I think it’s a great idea!

And what say we kick them out of the country before they start to collect. Most excellant! :stuck_out_tongue:

If we had a mutual exchange policy, we’d really be in the pink. Or should I say the system would be in the black a lot longer.

For each immigrant who would pay social security but then not receive benefits, we would export someone who is now receiving benefits and we would not forward their checks.

This sounds like a very modest proposal, as long as it stopped the month before I could start drawing benefits.

You are a genius! George Duba,are you listening . . .
