No, it certainly doesn’t offend me. However, I already sent him an email asking the same question (since I know he’s not in 'til the afternoon). And considering I’ve talked to the guy several times on the phone already, and was able to schmooze the cost of the room down from $175 to $100, it’s probably best to have me as the main contact here.
I’ll let you know what I find out.
Also, I sent a preliminary ChiDope Cellphone list out yesterday. I’ll be sending a final one out on Wednesday, with some corrections and additions. If you want to be on the list, [email=ashleyba@attbi.com]email me with your screen name, your real name (I’m only distributing first names), your cell phone number, and your email addy (so I don’t have to pick the thing out of the headers), and I’ll add you to the list.
Phew! Thanks UncleBeer !
No one wants to get arrested at a gathering that has absolutely no connection at all to The Chicago Reader and/or The Straight Dope who would never condone that type of beha

Doubletree rate is $59.00/nite. I know it was less expensive than when I forst posted, but at that time I thought it was only gonn be three or four rooms. Let me assure you, this is still a darn good rate for Chicago.
For anyone who’s driving, e-mail me, I’ll see what I can do about parking arrangements. We should be able to figure something out.
As stated before, if you have any questions or if I’ve missed anyone, please e-mail me. Also, if your plans change, please e-mail me to cancel the room. Thanks!
I can’t believe it’s not Friday yet. But I realized as I lay groggily in bed this a.m. that since Chicago is a different time zone that I’ll gain an hour on the way there (ok, I lose one on the way back plus the one we lose due to the time change) so I should be there an hour earlier than I’d originally planned without changing my schedule at all. And since I’ll start to get antsy to leave right after lunch on Friday I may even sneak out early. It helps that my boss appears to be on vacation this week.
Thanks!! in advance to all of the ChiDoper’s helping to coordinate this!
You are worried about me because I was looking to get 69 two nights in a row in a state that outlaws “fornication”? Or because I subconsciously did NOT want to get up a some ungodly early hour that morning after a good three hours of sleep? (why the hell did that damned basketball game go so late?) Or for the oh-so-pathetic attempt at juvenile humor?
This time it is an afternoon flight, so no worries, mate. As long as Untied runs on time, that is.
Mostly for the not-only oh-so-pathetic attempt at juvenile humor, but the protracted lengths you went to in trying to bring it off, and then still couldn’t manage it.
And also for your beloved’s reaction. Believe me, Bill, I’m living it. I utter what I consider a bon mot, a witticism, a wry, pithy, ironic comment, something worthy of the Algonquin Round Table, and Mrs. Dave-Guy just gives me a “Right, whatever.” Doesn’t even skip a beat.
These wives and fiancees, man. Tough crowd. Tough, tough crowd.
And why should I worry about you for the first two reasons? They’re both perfectly understandable. Especially the first.
Well, I for one knew exactly the [sub]bad[/sub] joke UncleBill was going for. Damn engineers.
And I have some bad news for the under-age crowd for Saturday. I’ll just quote right from the email I got:
Sorry, guys. I feel really bad, but I don’t think there’s really anything to be done at this point. I guess Friday night, Saturday day-time, and Sunday morning activities will have to suffice for the under 21 crowd.
