Country Music Legend Hank Locklin Has Died

Article here.
I got to meet him only once, though I saw him often around town. It was in 1997 when I was buying some cold cuts from the grocery store deli, that I saw him and got the courage to approach him. He was so nice and stood chatting with me for quite a while and seemed flattered that I wanted his autograph (I still have it, of course!).

My daughter had told me only a couple of weeks ago that he made some major financial contributions to her school’s music program, as well.

I guess now they’ll have to change the signs at the city limits to say “Home of the late Hank Locklin.” :frowning:

“Send Me the Pillow You Dream On” is just an awesome song. “So, darling, I can dream on it, too.” What a line.

Oh, I agree–that song IS awesome! I really love his style and sound!

Send Me The Pillow That You Dream On.

My first thought was “Please Help Me I’m Falling” rather than “Send Me The Pillow.”

One of the neatest things about youtube is being able to see these guys I remember from the late 1950s-early 1960s singing their old hits as old men.

Just like looking into the mirror for me these days.
