Courting the "stupid vote".

Cite? I haven’t seen Kerry proclaim his plan would provide health care for everyone, which it wouldn’t. That doesn’t mean he didn’t make this seperate claim, which we should note is completely true assuming a person really believes the “and should” part. I’m sure there are some of those folks out there though I seriously doubt Kerry is one. Again, that doesn’t mean he didn’t say it.

Fascism is the wedding of extreme nationalism with corporate interests. That more accurately describes the Right which is hardly a surprise since fascism is a rightwing ideology.

Stonebow:

Nobody in my gun club needs to be persuaded; as much as we don’t particulary care for GeeDubya, we know John Kerry is worse. We knew that all along. No need to discuss it. We save or conversational energy for the real important stuff (Coke vs Pepsi, Bourbon vs Scotch, Winchester vs Remington, etc.).

Ambrose Bierce got it right. 'twas ever thus.

Maybe you have a tinfoil hat you can lend them to protect them from these nefarious outside influences.

I would love to see the definition of “worse” in your dictionary.

Just a drive by observation…I don’t know if the ‘liberals’ are more ignorant (I tend to doubt it…ignorance isn’t a lock by any party), but I’ve noticed that THIS election they seem more personally vicious. This is from my own personal observation here in New Mexico and my reading of the news. Let me briefly explain (I was going to start a thread on this but I just don’t have any free time these days). Here in New Mexico (and appearently elsewhere from the news) I’ve seen a lot of vandalism of people with Bush signs in their yards (on both private and public property). Not only have the posters been vandalized but in many cases their property has been damaged as well. ‘Liar’ and ‘Nazi’ are spray painted on the Bush posters…and on the walls of houses and cars of people who put out such posters in some cases.

In addition there have been numerous reports of Bush supporters being abused in public both verbally and even physically. There was something in the paper today in fact about a college kid who was kicked by a visiting professor for wearing a Bush sweat shirt and showing it to his friends at a restaurant. Certainly it wasn’t a serious attack, the profesor being a woman and the sweat shirt wearing college kid being a man…however it was done in a public place and was uncalled for…the kid was only showing off his sweat shirt and the professor had no business in coming out of the blue like that and kicking him…just because he was wearing a Bush shirt.

There have been several reports of such things in the past few months. Yet I’ve heard no similar reports of Bush supporters destroying Kerry signs (at least not here in New Mexico), nor have I heard of physical attacks against Kerry supporters just because they were wearing Kerry shirts and such (verbal attacks are on both sides I’m sure, though again I haven’t heard as many stories from the Kerry side).

All of the above is pure anacedote…no cites, just my personal observations. Perhaps similar Kerry attacks have just not been reported. But my personal take on this is that the left wing side of the Democrats are a LOT more vicious this election.

Sorry, Scot. that should read, “…worse on gun control.

There have been SEVERAL cites in Pit threads. Kerry sign-stealing is an epidemic!

I’ll look for cites.

For starters:

There was also a story on Drudge about a guy who stabbed his girlfriend because she said she was going to vote for Kerry. Local DNC campaign headquarters’ have been vandalized, phone banks for Kerry have had their lines cut, sign stealing is run amok, and here’s the kicker…the GOP is sending out herds of roving thugs to try to intimidate people out of voting, to jam up voting lines in Democrat precincts with meritless “challenges,” to scrub legitimate voters from rolls, to prevent any paper trails from the extremely suspect Diebold machines and to fund lying smear campaigns about John Kerry’s war record.

Let’s not pretend that Bush supporters are some kind of defenseless virgins here.

I have no cite beyond democraticunderground.com but this one’s an eye-opener.

I’m feeling kinda lazy at the moment, but can someone dig up for our comrade Razorsharpe the studies which show that folks who get their news exclusively from conservative media sources (such as Fox News and Rush Limbaugh) end up being the most misinformed on current events?

“Useful idiots,” indeed.

Several are at PIPA. the questionaires and everything.

I"m sure that Kerry supporters are just as mis-informed about other things that the pollsters didn’t ask about.

spelling and grammer subject to change without noice.

The government dictating to private enterprise, what they must pay their employees, would be a tenet of fascism.

That is a very loose use of the term. Do you feel the same way about all government regulations of private enterprise (workplace safety, anti-trust, environmental, etc.)? If so, I prefer your brand of fascism to the tyranny of corpocracy.

No it wouldn’t.

Er… no. It would be a tenet of socialism.

I agree with *Bricker. I don’t believe it.

Historically, fascists would rather exploit unpaid slave labor, when they can.

Both sides do this kind of stuff. I don’t know what more needs be said, except perhaps the wry commentary that of the two sides, one is supposedly much more about inclusion and tolerance than the other.

But even here, there are two sides to every issue: one side is supposedly much more about respect for law and order than the other. So any way you cut it, there are idiots on both sides, doing idiotic things.
